“Weekend break to visit the NGA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

We enjoyed our recent stay, location to the city was very good, although a bit dodgy walking past some of the areas between the hotel and the city centre. Staff were limited in their help re public transport (hey, i had a good carpark spot and i was too scared to give it up). Had dinner in the restaurant one night which was very nice, room service the second night was limiting, and although the same price as the restaurant was not to the same standard which was disappointing.

I stayed here in mid August for two nights on business.

The room was spacious, and very comfortable. The bed was particularly very comfortable to sleep in.

Internet was great, and worked everywhere I went in the hotel.

The breakfast is really good with quite a large selection of hot and cold foods. Coffee, fruit, breads, you name it.

The location is perfect for access either to the Parliamentary triangle or the city.

Great place to stay, would definitely stay there again on my next visit.

My wife and I spent a Friday and Saturday night, reception staff friendly and helpful. Overall the hotel looks a little tired and needs a tidy up. The "hot" breakfast components varied greatly in temperature and the scrambled egg was more like a chopped up solid omlette rather than being light and fluffy.

Staff very welcoming and attentive on arrival. Car parking is abysmal - and paying extra for it adds insult to injury. The room on the 9 th floor had great views and was very clean and neat, twin beds were extremely comfortable. The room is a little dark and needs decent lighting in the bathroom. Breakfast choices were great and this was included in our deal. We did done in for dinner and also found the food to be excellent in the restaurant. All in all a great weekend and the winter warmer deal was good value.

Room Tip: Don't choose 912 as audible lift noise

Initial impression was not so good as we had to unload the car and carry our gear to our room. We had a "suite" on the 13th floor. Obviously a fairly new fit out but the carpet in our room was already stained. The clock in the room was on the wrong time and the water pressure in the main shower was abysmal. The room was also a bit too warm for a cozy sleep. The security parking ($12/day) was good and the lift was card operated for security. Breakfast was good value but the staff kept removing plates, cutlery etc from our table which was intrusive and annoying. There was a surcharge on all cards except debit cards which is also annoying. I would stay there again solely because of its convenient location.

Room Tip: The lakeview rooms are just as much "high rise view rooms". The little balcony is almost u...

Overall this hotel is OK, nice and central. It is tastefully decorated, quality of the furnishings was great. Beds are comfy and thankfully an alternative to the feather duvet is supplied for those of us who sleep warm. Staff were great, had to move rooms twice, once due to a faulty aircon and the second time due to a group partying in the room next door. Staff had me moved immediately. Sadly, me having to move instead the offenders being removed from the hotel is more a comment on the state of our society rather than the quality of the hotel!
But one real comment I have is the hotel room doors. They slam shut. It makes this one of the noisiest hotels I have ever stayed in. The mechanism is set up so that the last few inches of closing is way too fast. The result? doors slamming all the time. Less of a problem during peak times, you accept that, but if you have a deeply inconsiderate neighbour who is in and out of the room ALL NIGHT for some reason? you get the picture.
Word to the management, please adjust the doors!!

Room Tip: Choose the rooms facing black mountain, less traffic noise
