Our family got a fantastic deal on two interconnecting rooms for 2 nights in January, and we enjoyed our stay.
The rooms were generous in size, if a little bland in regards to the interior decoration. They were in reasonable condition, clean and well stocked/appointed.
The buffet breakfast was good (if extremely busy with people) and the food offering was to a high standard. The breakfast staff seemed as though they were either half asleep or inexperienced, and struggled to keep up with turning tables around. Items that ran out on the buffet were slow to be replaced, and I think you need to allocate supervision to people with an eye for detail.
Pool and gym were great, but busy.
Parking was confusing. Is it valet? Or is it self serve? Perhaps this needs to be communicated better. Happy to pay for valet, if self serve then I think this rate needs to be looked at. All in all a strange system.
Location was excellent, and all things considered I would choose to stay again, particularly if I was able to get a great through my Accor Club membership in the future.
Thank you to the friendly, helpful and accommodating senior female staff member who worked the front desk, the car park and other areas of the hotel during our stay. You may have been the Hotel manager, and you seemed to be working double shifts while juggling many tasks and solving problems. We stayed during a period of time when bushfires had cut off major roads in and out of Canberra, and you were able to provide us with solutions and advice. Bravo! I hope your staff take a leaf out of your book, because service standards were sadly inconsistent.
Note: DO use the safe provided in room. My 9 year old daughter left her kids wallet on the desk in her room, with her hard earned $40 pocket money inside. After we left the hotel, we found the money was gone. Sad, but lesson learned - the safe it there for a reason, and in a busy hotel like this with housekeeping coming and going all the time, better to be 'safe than sorry'!
