“Really nice hotel with reasonable rates”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

We stayed two nights at this hotel, it was in a great position for us not too far to the airport or to the city centre. It's quiet location close to a small shopping centre was ideal, with a bus stop just around the corner for the 20 minute bus journey into Canberra.

We really liked our room, very spacious and comfortably furnished with the added extra of a small kitchenette. Although eating out was easy enough with plenty of coffee shops and restaurants in the area. We ate in the Tradies Club which was attached to the Hotel, the food was reasonable and service excellent.

We were also very impressed with the hotel staff who were courteous and helpful. A nice smile and pleasant greeting makes all the difference, and they were obviously well trained in customer service.

Where this hotel falls short of the mark is the failure to provide free wifi, this should certainly be available in public areas at least. It's very frustrating to find large chain hotels who don't appreciate the importance of providing good Internet connections as a service to their customers. On principle we don't pay these high tariffs instead enjoy a nice coffee with free wifi in a local cafe.

This is the only thing which stops us from scoring 5/5 overall.

This hotel offers very comfortable and clean rooms, and is in a great location with shops, restaurants, petrol stations etc next door. A big bonus is that it is linked to the club and the food there was nice.
We booked a cheap rate ($114.00) on the hotel website in a Standard room and were very lucky to get upgraded to a One Bedroom apartment. While it is still only one room, it's really spacious and has a very comfortable king size bed in it; the room has a nice feel about it and we really enjoyed our overnight. We will definitely return to this hotel if we can get a similar rate.

Room Tip: When booking online, check the hotel website, as they usually have the same prices as last minute.co...

This place is a great find! The prices are reasonable and the rooms themselves are quite big! Very clean and fairly modern with comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom. You can't beat the location, two minute walk to everything you need in Dickson and not far from the city. I was expecting the room to be pretty noisy but it was so quiet! Check-in and check-out was a breeze.
Only complaint would be the Wi-Fi as everyone has mentioned but that won't stop me from returning. Being a frequent traveller to Canberra this hotel is definately a winner for us.
Next visit I'd like to try the attached tradies club for a cheap eat.

Nice room, spotlessly clean however was woken to the sound of furniture being dragged across tiles in the upper floor at 4am - what on earth was going on I have no idea - as it went on for about an hour. The location is unbeatable. Two minutes walk from Woolworths, bottle shops, KFC, Mcdonalds, restaurants - it's all there. It also has direct access to a licensed club which has a great restaurant.

Now for the NOT happy part. I've said it before - when are Australian hotels going to WAKE UP about charging for Wifi. I was stunned to see the outrageous charge of $20 for 24 hours with limited data at this hotel. You must be kidding. This is price gouging in the extreme. I travel to Europe for work and hotels over there do not charge - so why do it here?

Given that the hotel is linked to a club (which we thought might be a problem) we were pleasantly surprised. Reception is very professional and the rooms are quite spacious and clean with all the amenities we needed. It was very quiet, the beds so comfortable and with no light sneaking into the rooms through doorways or windows of a night time, we had a wonderful night's sleep. We were grateful for the free undercover parking courtesy of the club and being able to walk to all the restaurants on offer in Dickson was a real bonus. We regularly visit Canberra and are often dismayed at the tariffs and/or qulaity of the various properties in which we have stayed. We spent one night here on our way to Thredbo and were so impressed, we booked in again for our return journey and were not disappointed.

The other ratings and reviews about the property have been accurate -- this is a nice and clean place, well-situated, and with underground parking. Our room was clean and spacious, and aside from low thread-count sheets (!) there wasn't much to criticize. Except, of course, for the Internet/wifi policy. Not only must you pay an exorbitant amount $6 for one hour or $20 for 24 hours, they also limit the amount of data. This is typical for 2006, not 2013, or perhaps for an isolated location in the wilderness, not in the capital city of a first-world country. It is a purely greedy move by the owners (I assume this is a franchise location), and if they read TripAdvisor, perhaps they will explain why they've made this decision.

I stayed at this hotel twice in a few weeks for business as recommended by a colleague and found the experience very good on both occasions. Though I would recommend a spa room if you can get it!

It is located so close to restaurants and conveniences in the suburb of Dickson, which itself isn't so far from the city centre but has everything you need there anyway. Lots of delicious Asian cuisine restaurants in particular. It's also linked to the Tradies club bar/restaurant which I didn't eat at but had a few beers and the service was great and good old fashioned club prices! Of course there are pokies areas there but you can choose to keep quite separate from that. The only thing that was a bit annoying was the constant hourly member announcement every hour which interrupted your conversation for a minute each hour! But I suppose this is good for members.

The rooms were modern, well decorated, clean and spacious and I was very impressed for the price. The bed...extremely comfortable! I recommend this hotel, but not too much so it's not booked out next time for when I need to travel!!

Room Tip: The spa rooms are very spacious
