A group of 8 for lunch on a Friday. Shouldn't be hard at a yum cha place, should it? Well it seemed like it was a struggle. It's not really set up to bring the trolleys through so we were brought dishes straight to the table. If we were lucky. After the first 4 baskets, which really only allowed us to have 2 pieces each seeing that 2 baskets had pork buns in them, we waited. And waited. And waited.
Eventually we received more food, but once again there were pork buns, and we had to keep asking. It also seems that the kitchen slows or stops after 1.30, even though lunch is until 2pm. One staff member was good, and made sure that we did get more.
What food we got was tasty enough but overall this was a disapointing lunch. It lacked variety and service. Only 1 plate of vegetables (brocoli in oyster sauce) arrived, and no rice at all. Emptied plates stayed onthe table even though we stacked them up. The best part was that the lunch time deal is only $20 per head. Maybe that's why the lack of variety? And at no time were we offered drinks.
Parking is not easy, being on the outer fringe of ANU / Civic and you do need to book for lunch. There are better options for yum cha, probably won't be back.
