“As good as ever.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Went with friends last night to try out William's new/old menu as he has gone back to a lot of the dishes he put on when he had Tim's. Lots of new ones to try and fell in love with the "Fluffy duck", it was divine. Once again the food is delicious and he still has old favourites on the menu including the stuffed eggplant with xo sauce which we love. Has been a while since we ate there but still got the same wonderful welcome from the owner. Food, service, wine list all great.

“great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

I have been here twice now and intend to dine with a larger party tonight. I found the food to be very good and the service excellent.

“Cheap cheerful lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

Lovely restaurant for lunch, and some great lunch specials on weekdays.
The setting is lovely - dine inside for a more formal setting, or out the front for a casual al fresco meal.
Service was polite, cheerful and attentive.
And the food was fast, fresh and tasty.

“Worth stopping by”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

My bride and I spent Valentine's Eve at Bambusa's and had a very good experience there.

For starters, we had Bambusa's spin on "kaoya" - Beijing roast duck pancakes. They took a while to come out but were worth the wait: beautifully presented and yummy.

After that we had salt'n'pepper squid, Yuxiang Eggplant (yu xiang qiezi), and stir-fried vegetables with steamed rice. It was all good: the squid was just the right chewy/tender texture and was well seasoned, and the eggplant came out sizzling and narrowly won the prize for dish of the night.

There was a pretty acceptable wine list, complete with specials.

It was all presented by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable waitress, who seemed committed to ensuring we felt good about our choices.

The Bambusa decor was simple but the ambience created was a step up from your average Chinese restaurant. The tables were spaced so that we could have a decent conversation (we got to finish a number of sentences without the kids around).

All up, the experience cost us about AUD100, including a couple of drinks each, and we were well fed at the end of it.

I'd recommend this place, and will go back, It is certainly NOT the worst Chinese in Manuka.
