“Excellent... for a 4-star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

We stayed in Forza Mare for 7 nights. It was one part of our honeymoon. In general, our stay there was great: private beach, amazing view, polite and helpful staff, towels everywhere, small amount of rooms let us use the SPA like we were alone. They make the room twice a day, hotel territory is also really clean. But there are some casual details that we didn't like: loud music in halls even after 23.00, poor breakfast (unless you ask for an omelette or pancakes), several mistakes of waiters (bringing wrong food), smoking people everywhere (beach, rooms, breakfast, restaurant - it was really horrible), not really modern rooms (some towels were worn through), not so much services included in price (which is really high - 270 EUR for a "side sea view" room). To my mind, this hotel would be just perfect if this price was for half-board.

Montenegro hospitality is still developing towards Western European standards, but Forza Mare is almost already there.
The hotel is excellent in terms of atmosphere, customer service, spa facilities (on a boutique scale) and our suite was excellent.
They even iron your clothes for free!
Fresh, modern décor, very clean, friendly staff, good cocktails, a great little private beach with double and single sunbeds and of course a breath-taking view from the front of the hotel.

I said Forza Mare is almost there - the almost was because of course the restaurant menu standards can't compare to Western Europe because of the food and wine importation issues that Montenegro faces.
Despite that, the food on offer is enjoyable and fresh and again, cute beach restaurant offers wonderful views.

The hotel is about 5 minutes in a cab away from the old town of Kotor and cabs here are very cheap.

I would say if you prefer boutique this is the best you'll find in the Bay of Boka.

Room Tip: The suites are worth the extra.

We stayed 10 nights at Forza Mare having a restful break overlooking the Bay of Kotor. We shelled out for a room with balcony - the only downside being that it was right next to reception so we could hear any conversations outside. But the balcony itself was great as we were able to sit and enjoy a truly stunning view across the bay.

The private terrace by the water was perfect for reading a book and going for a dip in the millpond-flat waters of the bay every chapter or two. I always prefer somewhere I can dive straight into the water to a beach where I have to wade in (not that the water in Kotor is cold). Swimming out into that view is something i could probably never tire of (ten days is far too short to know the answer to that question).

The reception desk staff are fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They gave us tips on where to eat and what sights to see, always asked how each meal or trip went, and even made up a packed breakfast for us to take with us the day we checked out as we had to leave about 7am.

I rarely stay in the same place twice, but would make an exception for Forza Mare.

This is a super stylish small luxury hotel with stunning views over the fjord and a charming 40 minute walk into Kotor (5 minutes by car or taxi). The first night we dined outside in the restaurant below the hotel by the edge of the pebble beach - magical. After that the weather was not so good and we were not able to make full use of the sun loungers and dine outside again! But because of the weather we did dine at the hotel all three nights and the food was very good with good sufficient choice each night. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was oriental themed and in good weather the balcony would have been a good chill out place. As it was we went to Perast dodging the rain and drove up an amazing twisty road into the national park to Cetinje. Just for nosiness we had a look at Sveti Stefan - we discovered afterwards that Forza Mare has an arrangement with the hotel at Sveti Stefan and you can be even nosier and use some of the facilities on the island if you want - worth asking at the desk before driving there. Having said that it didn't look very appealing.

Room Tip: The sea facing room are the best

Small and beautiful best describe this 10 room hotel just outside Kotor.5 star and stylish but at the same time friendly and understated. The back of the hotel has its own private sun terrace with direct access to swimming in the crystal clear Adriatic Sea.Absolutely stunning views of the mountains surrounding the bay - you could be in the Italian lakes.Worth taking small boat trip over to Lady of the Rocks -5Euros.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view - you will not be disappointed.

The hotel is very boutique and well appointed and it stands out from the area which is quite rustic!
There is a lovely view of the bay. We dined in the hotel because it was a bit cold to sit by the water.

The food was very good but overpriced . The steak was described with baked potatoes but it came with cooked frozen chips which, although neatly arranged, let the meal down.
The soufflé and strawberries were fabulous.

We enjoyed the local red dessert wine with the puddings

The wine with the dinner was corked and there was such an inquisition by the staff that could have been better handled- then they said it was the last bottle.

Good but a few details spoiled it from being excellent.

Had a terrific meal in a perfect setting on the edge of the bay....thank you Gyorgi!
