“Excellent Ski in/Ski Out Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed at Belle Plagne the first week of the Easter Holidays (28th March 2015) and Hotel Turquoise ticked all the right boxes! Ski in/ski out, half board with excellent breakfast with choice of full English, cereals, fruit etc., etc., afternoon-tea with cakes from 4.30pm, then a fabulous 3 course evening meal from 7pm. The chef created fabulous meals every evening from beef bourguignon, pork Normandy , chicken fricassee....all delicious! The kids are offered an alternative from 5.30pm if they prefer.

The hotel was in the middle of a refurb, with Neilson taking over in February, so I’m guessing the rooms will continue to be upgraded. The cosy bar and restaurant are already lovely but could be fairly busy when the hotel is full. The heated boot-room in the basement was perfect.

We booked ski-school with ‘Oxygen’ which is approx 200 meters uphill walk but if can already ski this can be accessed via the ‘Belle Plagne’ 4-man chair near the hotel – just ski down 200 meters to the chair, then down the steep blue to ski-school meeting place.

The Neilson staff were all exceptional and couldn’t do enough to help. The kids in the hotel all looked forward to snow-ball fights with the Reps! One of the young Reps ‘Henry’ played his guitar and sung in the bar one evening.....much to our 16 year old daughters pleasure! 

The ski area around Belle Plagne is vast and excellent, although some of the blues can be quite steep but wide enough for you to turn if you’re not too confident.
Note – you can only access Hotel Turquoise by walking across the blue piste!
Also - The transfer from Grenoble took 3 hours and you have to change coaches or minibus at Moutiers .

Room Tip: First Floor picks up hotel Wifi - we were in room 15 (2 bedrooms) above reception

Just spent a week at the Neilson Hotel Turquoise in Belle Plagne and cannot praise it enough.
First and foremost I must compliment Neilson on their staff selection process- the whole team were helpful, enthusiastic and friendly.
The hotel couldn't be sited more perfectly for ski - to door fans; pistes run by both front and back entrances.
Public areas are clean modern and comfortable.
Whilst rooms are small, they are clean and comfortable.
La Plagne is a wonderful resort with an unrivalled mix of terrain for beginners, experts and intermediate skiers, and I could recommend a better base from which to explore.

NB. My son and I booked skiis and boots through Neilson from Intersport in Belle Plagne. Unless your a fan of rude, ignorant and confrontational staff, shoddy sub- standard equipment and downright shameful customer service, I would suggest you make alternative arrangements.

Just got home after an Amazing ski holiday at Hotel Turquoise.
From collection at Airport (by Greg) to departure the staff were fantastic, nothing too much trouble.
We had a Mezzanine room, which had plenty of space for just the 2 of us. No noise from other guests, and some British channels of TV ( always a bonus)
Hotel is ski in ski out, if you have Ski School, the meeting point is right outside.
Food was superb, cooked breakfast every morning, Cereals, Croissant, yogurt, fresh juice and all you can drink coffee.
Tea and Cake @ 16.30 to refuel after a long day on slopes.
Evening meal was 3 Course, and staff were more than accommodating with any dietary needs.
I would recommend this hotel to anybody in a heart beat, as we had a fabulous time and are already considering booking again for next year.
Thank you to all the staff who made us have a wonderful week.

Spent a week at the start of Feb in the newly refurbished Hotel Turquoise. It's a fab place - and for those who have Nielson'ed before it'll have the service, atmosphere and facilities you'd expect.
Location wise it's right on the slopes - so very easy access to La Plagne and about 20 min to get to the Vanoise Express to Les Arcs.
The bar was our main hangout in the evenings - with Mr Ed supplying whatever tipple you desire. Food was spot on too - with the Welsh wizard and Peterborough's finest soux chef on the pans on steel!
Lots to do in the resort, check out Scotty's on a Weds (I think) for a classic après partay.
The team looking after you at the hotel are always smiling and happy to help - it's not just the mountain air - they genuinely care that you have an amazing holiday.
Bon chance

- Hotel: Hotel Turquoise is a new addition to the Neilson winter collection, so we decided to give it a go due to its slope side location and ski area the hotel is located within.

- Location: Ski in / Ski out hotel. Perfectly positioned for those skiiers who want to clip in and ski to the lifts in the mornings. The main ski lifts hubs are situated about a minutes ski down the hill. At the end of the day you can ski to the terrace ready to enjoy your afternoon Tea & Cakes.

- Food: WOW! The food was superb all week. The Turquoise maybe a 3* hotel, but the food was
certainly took the rating up. Full English Breakfast served each morning (naughty but nice!) I love the
offerings of Tea & Cakes at 16:30 each day – full compliment of cakes & bread each afternoon. We
were treated to a three-course meal each night – serving up meals of Duck, Lamb Shank, Pork
Normandy (best meal of the week) and Cheese Raclette. Big compliments to Charlie and the other
chefs. The service was very friendly and attentive throughout the week – excellent table service from
Lauren and Angus.
My only gripe: no Tea & coffee offered or served with the meal after desserts. Hopefully this can be
offered in the future.

- Room: We stayed in a Twin Room on the 1st floor. Nice sized room. Our room (14) was lacking storage space but it did come with a bath and a shower head – some of the other bedrooms do come with a wet room. Being a first floor room we did pick up the WIFI from the downstairs bar, although room 14 is above the bar, so it does pick up the noise from the music and late night drinking below.

- Bar: Decent sized bar with two cracking guys running the bar – Chris & Ed will keep you entertained and topped up all week. Acoustic night was awesome.
One recommendation: Why does the bar not offer a happy hour? This would attract hotel guests down to the bar before dinner to sink some discounted drinks before.

- Resort: I was surprised how quiet Belle Plagne is, I was expecting the bars to be a little more livelier. I would say the resort would suit a couples and families with young children. Certainly not for the male groups looking for a lively Après ski. The Paradski area covers a vast area of La Plagne and Les Arcs – brilliant for good immediate and advanced skiers.

- Overall: Very impressed with the hotel considering it was only its third week open. The staff of Neilson really help you enjoy your stay and go the extra mile for you. The slope side location is the real gem to this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 14 - does have a bath and picks up WIFI from bar area below. Downside you pick up the noise an...

We have just returned from our annual boys ski trip & we have all come away feeling totally satisfied with the Turquoise Hotel. After a difficult start (no fault of the hotel) we checked in at 2.30am (due to flight issues) & was astounded to find a 3 course meal waiting us on check-in after a 24 hour (door-door) trip to resort. The quality of food then and throughout the week was excellent, the staff in all areas of the hotel are superb making our stay incredibly relaxed, we found them all to be attentive but unobtrusive at the same time, a brilliant balance considering they are such a young team. This was our first trip to Belle Plagne and found the whole ski experience fantastic despite some difficult (whiteout) conditions, the hotel is sat directly on the Piste running through resort thus making the start (and end) to the day perfect. True enough, this hotel is understandably experiencing minor teething problems as this is a relatively new 'Neilson' operation but I think I can speak for all the group by saying 'you will not be disappointed'.

I booked this Neilson skiing holiday as a last minute solo holiday- best decision I've made!
The hotel was pleasant, an comfortable for the week I was there, not too fancy but had the basics which you require.
The staff were brilliant, very friendly, helpful and there was always someone around if you needed anything. Traveling by myself it was nice to know there was a friendly face behind the bar at the end of the day!
There were plenty of activities an entertainment organised at nighttime by the reps. I personally didn't go on some of the organised trips but the evenings in the hotel were brilliant, -especially the pub quiz and a night where one of the staff took to his guitar an did a small set!
The food in the hotel was excellent, just what you needed after a hard day on the slopes! A three course meal was provided every night, with a small tea an cakes provided at half 4, pre après! The brownies an flapjacks at tea time were top notch, but a particular favourite of mine was the bread an butter pudding, best I've ever eaten!!

I had a fantastic week skiing, and would happily recommend the hotel and Neilson to anyone who wanted a no frills ski holiday!
