“little disappointing to be here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

we were here to celebrated our company's anniversary. I thought the hotel will be better if compared to hotels in the before years. This hotel have no problem with the room, but if you go to the beach, it's have delimitation in this side and the other. About the breakfast, this hotel just have a standard food menu. After all this hotel is just in average standard.

Room Tip: choose a room with beach view

There could have been many good things there. Place is lacking in maintainance.
Being away from everything else, it has overpriced food that tasted ordinary. Good to have a taxi number on hand since their hotel transport cost 40% more.

I can't begin to tell you how much potential this resort has. The grounds are expansive, but require some serious TLC - The place is in quite a state of disrepair. The Villa's are the only place I would recommend staying (request ocean front), but at 500 sing $ a night, they are expensive, dated rooms. Hotel rooms are OK, they have had a slight update, but they are still far from good.

The Kelong Restaurant was closed when we were there - they state it only closed "last week for urgent repairs", but the place looks like it's been packed up for months, and for the 5 nights we were there, we saw no work being carried out. It actually looks like a great spot to eat – right over the water – had that have been running this review might be a little more positive.

Staff are really rather lazy - all except the front desk girls who seem to be there all the time! Ground keeping / Bar / Pool staff just seem to stand around and do pretty much nothing - but they do nothing with a lovely smile! No service around the pool... we requested a menu and it arrived 80 minutes later...

The only redeeming feature was the 5th Dimension spa. Still, dated interior but reasonable prices and a lovely massage.

The other, and only cafe onsite has a limited menu - don't attempt any western dishes. Breakfast was OK, better on the weekends when the hotel was full.

We really struggled with the you-can-smoke-everywhere policy. Came home and smelt like a lucky strike for a week.

Would I stay again? No. My advice would be to visit Thailand or Tioman Island or Pangkor.

Room Tip: Water front Villa's are the only ones I would recommend. Pool facing rooms can be noisy if there...

Unexpected, unbelievable but REAL... thats how I described our 2 days and 1 night stay @ Batam View. The rooms are a bit old but clean and fair enough for its price. But the service was really awesome from the local staff who speak tagalog and We are amazed when their chef offered us our famous Pinoy dish "Tinolang Manok" for FREE. We were like "Wow!" such a feeling when your surrounded by beautiful people in your vacation...

Best place to relax. Overall service was good and view is most memorable one.

We haven't struggled for vegetarian food here and they accept Sing dollars also...

Starting from pick up and drop to ferry, they have taken ownership and made our stay pleasant.

Always book the resort with all packages, they will ensure everything.

Stayed for a day and a night before the Eid holiday. Stayed in superior (2 separate beds) room.
Batam view hotel does indeed keep it's namesake. From the front, Coastarina and megamall could be seen, and at the back is Nongsa island.
The hotel is old as written by other reviewers. It does seem a bit run down and most of the equipment are antiquated. But don't let that fool you. The rooms are nice and well kept. The lobby as well as the bar are nice. Live band music at night playing even though the people in the vicinity are less than a handful. Swimming pool at the back is just the right size. One end is about 4ft and the other is at 10ft. Kiddie pool is available. There's also a small zoo at the side of the building with birds, iguana's, porcupine, squirrel (?) and a very friendly cat.
Playground for kids is at the back almost near the beach.
Beach is at the back of the hotel. They provide water activities at a cheaper price as compared to the other 2 hotels.
Had dinner at the Kelong restaurant. A bit pricey for a decent meal.
Breakfast is not that great but not that bad. This would only be the down point on my review.
Better head to Batu besar if you want to get a sumptuous and full belly meal for the same price.
Overall it was a good stay with scenic views. Staff are very accommodating.
I would visit this place again.

Room Tip: Choose odd numbered rooms if u want the Coastarina views, even numbers for the pool and Nongsa islan...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

My hubby and I arrived at the Batam View Beach resort on 28 July 2012.
We took the ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and the ride was only 35 minutes.
When we arrived at the Batam Jetty, staff from BVBR came to fetch us and hold on to our passports until late evening.
The ride for the van to go from the jetty to the resort is only 5-10 mins.
We reached the resort at 10.25am (batam time)
We wanted to get the bus down to Nagoya but it is already full so we purchase the trip to Mega mall instead.
After paying, we went to the lounge to redeem the welcome drink.
Basically it is only orange syrup.
After that, the buggy ride send us to the villa that I booked secretly for my hubby.
The villa was very nice, with a kitchen with all the utensils, a living room and a dining room.
The bedroom is separated from the other rooms and there is no TV. The TV is placed in the living room.
The view is really very nice and we really enjoy it.
After that, we went to redeem our 15 min ride for the canoeing.
There were actually not many ppl there and we had the sea by ourselves.
The water sports are run by FOCUS, which had a company in SG too.
The jet ski was quite expensive at IDR230000 for 15 minutes.
Luckily we did not get the jetski because it rained after our canoeing.
At 1.30pm,we took the van to Mega mall and the journey took 40 mins.
The mall was big but not many things.
We went shopping, bought a blouse for myself, couple tee for my parents, a tee for my hubby, and one shirt for my father in law.
The biggest place to shop is the supermarket, the beer is really cheap,we get 2 beers, 1 kueh lapis for my friend and a lot of preserved fruits!
Our last stop is the legendary A & W! The chicken is really tender but it is quite expensive.. It is selling at $7.00 per meal... 2 pieces of chicken, with curly fries and rootbeer float!
We left the mall at 4.30pm.
We had our dinner at Kelong restaurant at 6.30pm, we had the fresh cockles with fresh chillies (MUST TRY!!), prawns with salted egg (don't try), hokkien noodle (ok only), clear tom yum soup (ok only), french bean with redang and seafood (MUST try!!)
The drink are the longan drink (a lot of longan) and thai coconut (not so nice as the flesh was really hard.)
My hubby is not the kind who loves bloody cockles but he fell in love with the cockles immediately and wanted more cockles!!! but we too full for that!!
The meal costs us IDR 503800.00 which is $70.00!!
But we are really happy to eat the cockles, so we don't mind the cost..
We walked back to the hotel to redeem our spa for 1 hours, we walked passed the lounge and the band were singing the hokkien song.. hahaha, so nice of them..And they sang well too!
The spa was nothing great, the toilet is scary, the door knob is broken.
The lady that helped us massage never clean our feet and she massage my feet first then later to my face...Eeekkkkkkk...
We went back to the villa and order room service... oh my, I thought we are full...
Had 5 chicken wings with banana boat icecream at IDR163000 which is $22.30
Enjoying it with our beer..
They never clear our plate and there are ants all over the ice cream plate even on the day when we were leaving!
We woke up to look at the beautiful scenery of the sun rise..
The breakfast was terrible.. The worst breakfast that I had even eaten..
So we went back to the villa to munch our tibits..
And reluntantly we left the resort at 1pm ( we actually requested for late check out).

Room Tip: We had a very good villa room, room #814 facing the sea.. Remember to plan your time well.
