“Great place for a short getaway with your family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

Its my first time to Montigo and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The seaview villa was exactly like the pictures, we had very nice rooms and the private pool was fab ! It was a little inconvenient to have to travel quite a bit to do a spot of shopping but my family enjoyed the quiet and peace of being away from the usual bustle of town and tourists. All in all it was a real getaway for us and nice time to do some bonding.

Room Tip: Pay extra for the Sea view. It's worth it cos' you will wake up to a fab view everyday ! Mig...

We stayed for 2 nights in a Spa Pool Villa on the first night and Hilltop Villa on the second night. Had been in contact with Ady from Reservations. Expedite & professional response. Great job! We had a late arrival and was welcomed by Tiffany from Front Desk. We were given orientation of the property (nice touch).

The rooms was enormous (considering there was only 2 of us on the first night). 3-storey villa. Living room on the first gloor with plunge pool and attached cabana. Sadly the cabana was Out Of Order but we paid for a Hilltop rate. The plunge pool was clean and overlooks a breathtaking view of the Sea.

The second floor comes with 2 bedrooms. The Masterbedroom comes with a huge bathroom equipped with a double vanity, huge bathtub, bathroom and a standing rain shower. The rooms comes with a comfortable king size bed and a sofa.
The second room comes with 2 single beds and is en-suite.

The third floor is where the rooftop terrace is. It has an expansive space suitable for gatherings and In-Villa dinning. Sadly when we were there, the rooftop was not cleaned with cushions not placed. Nevertheless, we were overcomed by the beautiful night / day view.

Breakfast spread was vast. The restaurant's breakfast staffs was exceptionally superb. Perfect service provided. Mahmud & Budi is an assett to the hotel. They provided exceptional service and definitely made our day.

In all, being in hospitality myself, I must say this place is worth the visit. It is atleast 30mins drive away to the City Area (Batam Centre). But worth the visit. Great Job Montigo! And thank you for this memorable stay!

Stayed one night at Montigo Resorts and I had a wonderful experience. Loved the pool in the villas. Food at Tiigo bar was so-so. I ordered the steak from the BBQ set and I was shocked when it arrived - it was tiny! Other than that, it's a great place for a weekend getaway with your friends. I wouldn't recommend a couple getaway though, it might be a little pricey.

Booked 2 Seaview Villas for me and my friends, a party of 10 people on 01 March 2014 for 1 Night. Each villa is meant for 4 people. However, Montigo will be able to set up the Sofa Bed in the Master Bedroom for the 5th person. There is a surcharge of SGD 121 NETT for the 5th person staying in the villa. Before departure, I had made communications with the reservation team over email and phone to make some requests and ensure every other arrangement turn out fine. There was a little confusion during the communication about dinner arrangements. But as a kind gesture of the Montigo's F&B's Manager, they have offered us complimentary mocktails over dinner.

The resort offers complimentary hotel transfer from Nongsapura Ferry Terminal. Upon arrival, all guest were served welcome drinks and hand towels while waiting for check in. After check in was done, buggys were arranged to take us to our villas. Everyone was very happy with the villa. It was clean and beds were comfortable. There was also a welcome fruit basket with a note in it. The resort only sent staff over to set up the sofa bed 1 hour after check-in despite paying and informing them about the 5th persons over email. As we were all already enjoying ourselves in the pool, it was kind of a inconvenience to answer the doors and wait for them to do the set up. It would have been better if they have informed housekeeping before hand to set it up. Complimentary birthday cake that was supposed to be sent over after check in never showed up. Other than that, service staff were friendly and always greeted us with a smile. The view is gorgeous at night from the roof top. We stayed upstairs and enjoyed the sky full of stars, a view that you will never get in Singapore.

We've booked dinner at TIIGO Bar. The environment of the bar is excellent and the DJ was putting up excellent music. The bar was only half full with people, not crowded at all, so overall it was comfortable.

Called for buggy service thrice throughout my stay at Montigo. Once was when returning from TIIGO bar back to our villa. It never came, but one buggy who dropped of another guest picked us up and sent us back (he made two trips to sent all 10 of us back). The second time was in the morning from our villa to the breakfast area. We waited about 5-10mins and they had only sent 1 buggy. So some of my friends had to walk over. The 3rd time was during check out. Called buggy at 11.45AM to inform them to send the buggy for 10 persons in 10 minutes. It came only 20 minutes later.

We had ask the resort to help us arrange for taxi service to Nagoya Hill. It was a 7 seater vehicle, very clean and the driver was good. We had to split up in 2 vehilces. Driver picked us up from Montigo and dropped us for a massage, waited for us and sent us to Nagoya Hill for lunch thereafter. Came back to get us and sent us to Batam Centre Ferry Terminal. It was RP300,000 per vehicle. That makes it about SGD 5 per person. Pretty cheap and good service.

Room Tip: Actually, there is no need for you to book seaview as they did not reconstruct the beach. So the vie...

Stayed one night at Montigo Resorts.

Pros:
- Service staff were excellent and always ready to greet you with a smile
- Buggy service was prompt, arriving soon after calling
- Comfortable beds
- Nice bathtub with skylight
- Reasonably sized lap-pool in villa
- Complimentary birthday cake which was delivered to our villa
- Breakfast buffet was good
- Complimentary transfer to and from ferry terminal

Cons:
- This was our second trip to Montigo. The first trip was half a year ago in Sept 2013. It was shocking to see how much wear and tear had occured in the short span of a few months.
- Poor quality construction. It rained and water was leaking from the skylight into the bathroom. There was also water leaking into the staircase.
- Floor of the villa was not clean.
- No water kettle in the kitchen and we had to use a pot where the teflon layer is scratched up to boil water.
- Construction works on the pool in front of the restaurant was visible and accesible by guests.
- The construction site adjacent to the hotel was clearly visible from our villa. It seems like there was poor construction management as the soil from the cut hill washed away into the sea and was polluting the water.

While we had a relaxing stay at Montigo Resorts, we had much higher expectations of the place considering we spent S$400 per night per villa.

This is not exactly the luxurious resort I had in mind, based on what I saw on their website & brochures. It is nowhere close to a Banyan Tree/Angsana. The architecture is modern & unique, which made one rather excited before arrival.

Check in
We were made to go down a flight of stairs to check in at their Chinese restaurant, then go back up lobby again to take a buggy to our villa. The admin took quite a while.

Villa
The villa is supposed to be 'homely', where u remove your shoes & walk around like your own home. Our villa (#58) floor looked stained, esp in the main living room. I slipped into my slippers shortly after I took a couple steps barefoot. My feet felt dirty, floors not thoroughly cleaned. Decor-wise, it was so-so,rather empty with few furnishings. There was a dying cockroach in the middle room.

The master bedroom is nice & spacious, with a big toilet & bathtub. The other room was smaller with 2 single beds. Their maintenance is 'limited' eg. broken hooks aren't replaced; some parts of walls were cracked & unsightly; mini bar is just a few cans of soft drinks; all tea light's candles weren't replaced. The used ones were still in there. Btw, u've to ask for toothbrush/paste, it's not in the toilet. Pool size in the villa is decent, not too tiny like many other villas.

Facilities
They have a great pool, if u enjoy swimming. It's 1 of the few resorts with such a long lap pool. The pool bar/restaurant is decent, though funny that they were closed on a Sunday afternoon after 3pm! Buggy service was prompt, friendly & readily available upon request.

Food
Overall the food is decent. Breakfast is good, can't complain. Prices at restaurants are reasonable as well, much cheaper & better than those in Bintan (they charge in Rupiahs).

Would I go again? Yes as I know what to expect in the next trip.

Room Tip: hillside is good enough. I didn't get to see others to compare which is better.

Nice and relaxing
But I must disclose I am investor in Montigo
And keen to get approached by other investors (contact me please)
Beautiful but activities are too limited
Service is excellent
Food also
Restaurants average... Quickly crowded
Too many policies like "not allowed this" or "cannot do this" that challenge common sense
Need to have a more customer focused mindset at management level, the service staff does.
