Having just stayed one night on business it probably clouded my judgement. Its not too far from the ferry from the World Trade Centre in Singapore. A taxi to the hotel only takes 15 minutes at the most. Its a large dominant hotel on its own close to the inlet. Very popular with week end visitors from Singapore and expat waorkers. Even the standard rooms are large some with separate lounges overlooking the central pool area.. Non smoking rooms are at a premium. The hotel is not situated in a not very salubrious part of Batam though its not too far by taxi to Nagoya and the golf courses. Across the road is a selection of fairly down market bars and cafe's not a place to take the family but ok if you are just after a boys night out. In daylight the bar area is fairly run down and past its best. Restaurant in the hotel is good with reasonable prices. Service as always is attentive. The central pool area is safe for kids although when I was staying there was no lifeguard on duty. There are many expat workers staying there working at the various ship yards that dot the area and the big McDermotts construction yard. For a short stay on business it is reasonable but considering the availability of good accommodation just across the Strait in Singapore I would not include this hotel as a place to stay on a family holiday..
