“Terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012 via mobile

Terrible place was a nice place at one time now it's gone right down hill.
Bad drain or sewage smell as you walk in through the rear doors, staff don't care, poor service in general and all the food is nuked in a microwave.

“This Pub Restaurant sucks”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

I went to the Jolly Crofters for my birthday with my mother. What a mistake I made. I ordered a Sunday roast dinner. The meat tasted that it had been re-heated in a microwave and was going cold in some places. The broccoli and cauliflower were both badly undercooked. This just shows the terrible lack of care for it's customers. It wasn't even that busy and the staff were taking ages. You would have to pay me to go back again.

“Good ale, friendly pub”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

We go here quite regularly after walking. Staff are always friendly, real ale is well kept and always a good pint. Menu is impressive but last time we went, some choices were unavailable.

“Good Food - Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

A friend of ours told us they'd been to the Jolly Crofter recently and the food had been lovely so we decided to visit ourselves. Very welcoming staff, good pub grub - hearty and plenty of it! Good selection of food, and the apple pie is gorgeous!

“Well cooked pub grub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

We were looking for somewhere localish with good solid English food and thats exactly what we got.
We arrived around 7pm and although the pub wasnt busy but the place did seem to be filling up by around 8pm when we left. We note that some people say the staff are not great but we received a nice friendly welcome and to be honest thats unusual in this type of place.
We ordered drinks and our food but unfortunately a mis-understanding whilst ordering occured and we seemed to have ordered 4 main meals for the 2 of us. The staff quickly sorted the problem out without fuss and to us thats a big plus point as its only when things go wrong you see how the staff really are.
I had the steak & ale pie, chips & peas
I found the food and the size of portions very much to our liking and trust me we are not small eaters or eat any old junk people.
My pie was really well presented and full of rich tasty gravy with melt in the mouth beef.
I opted for the home cooked apple pie and custard and once again it was a lovely size and well cooked topped off with a nice helping of custard.
At around £30 for us both including drinks, this pub offers hearty grub of good quality at a very reasonable price
It is not the best looking place from the outside but do not let that put you off.
Do try it, the food is good, We will be returning to this place again

Did not spot the "Good Bear" as mentioned in previous review but did look for him lol
