“Massive portions- a few flaws”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My family and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening and the place was packed- literally squeezed in! Thankfully we had reserved. The staff were generally friendly; the Spanish waitresses were especially welcoming.
There was a wide variety of food on offer- including vegetarian options. The portions were MASSIVE for tapas, very tasty and fairly priced. My fellow diners raved about the chicken dishes- especially the chicken in San Miguel. However, we thought that smaller portions of higher quality food would have been better. The calimari was cooked from frozen- a disappointment and at £2.50 for half a pint of FLAT coke- there were a few flaws. Good- but not brilliant!

“Really good food but the prices add up . . !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

Excellant little place in Horwich which we have been to a few times . Not a massive selection but all dishes appear to be made freshly . Reasonable size Tapas dishes unlike the place around the corner where you get a plate something like the size of a doll's saucer !
Quite on a Sunday evening thou busier Fridays and Sat's .
Drinks can be a bit pricey , especially the draft Estrella spanish "lager" at £ 4.50 pint !!!!!!!!

“A regular haunt for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

We tend to dine here once a month and are always warmly welcomed by Owner Javier. We tend to choose the same items virtually every visit simply because we enjoy them. It's a pleasant quiet intimate environment and a good choice for a first date. Booking is essential as we've seen many people turning up on spec being unfortunate.

“A SPECIAL QUAINT EATING PLACE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

Viva Espania is the jewel of Horwich - some people dont even know its there! Tucked away on Winter Hey Lane its a small establishment with a big welcome. The food is fantastic - small little dishes of tapas made to order and perfect to the palate. A real good atmosphere awaits the diner, but beware some nights you cannot just turn up - you need to book - a popular place!

“We need to go more often. Sheer excellence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Due to our busy lifestyle it is probably a year since we last visited Viva Espana but managed a mid-week trip and if anything the experience is better than ever. The tapas that the Valencia born owner/chef prepares is just divine. The house wine he selects is always spot-on. Not expensive but not cheap, it does represent good value. Service spot on as always.
