The hotel is very clean and tidy, breakfast is very rich and the location is very beautiful. Syros is a wonderful island and I suggest that everyone should come and visit it

I am Greek but I write this in English so as to be read by any tourist in the island. I am so frustrated with everything in that hotel. We wanted to leave immediately but we could not find any nice place to stay in Azolimnos. It is so dissapointing to see that in 2012 we offer such services in local or foreign guests. Dirty rooms, partial view of the sea even in the front-cliff rooms, ONE PERSON doing everything (cleaning, serving, welcoming guests). INSECTS eating you up, empty and dirty pool, abandoned playgrounds, basic breakfast, they should pay us for staying there! This hotel should be immediately closed by aythorities. How is it possible to be a 4-start one? I regret not taking photos to upload here but I did not want any memory of that place. They complain about not having visitors any more, what do they expect with such facilities? This is not a way to run a business, if you want to visit the island stay in Ermoupolis.

Room Tip: not one nice room in a dirty abandoned hotel.

Spent two nights in this hotel and will never return. Pool was empty and the pool bar closed. They did mention it in their web page though. Service was a one man show, the same guy led us to our room, served us breakfast and did the housekeeping. The room had long past its heyday and it seems no effort has been recently done to refresh it a bit. Odd architecture ends up all rooms to have sort of a side sea view. They charged us a day use fee as if they were expecting crouds of tourist the next day. Not very expensive stay but should be even cheaper for what it offers.

We were assigned to this hotel by MidAmerica Productions, who assured us that every room was personally checked by a member of their staff, but our room in building 4, one of the nicest on the property, had leaking pipes from the toilet to a nearby drain. Other members of our group were not so fortunate, all of the rooms in the lower floor of building 6 had no windows or ventilation, a/c only in 1 of the 2-room "suite", dreadful odor of mildew, poor drainage in the showers, and very poor quality appointments and low standards of cleanliness. The 4-stars advertised are self-bestowed, this property would not rate even 1 star.
There was no porter service, so all 30 of us had to haul our cases up and down steps and along uneven pathways. The "internet in public area" could only be used by a handful of people at one time, or everyone's connection was dropped mid-task.

We spend 5 days at Faros which we thoroughly enjoyed. Along with its wonderful traditional Cycladic architecture the hotel offers modern facilities and services including a lovely outdoor swimming pool. The view to the sea from our balcony was mesmerising and the staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Our room was spacious and clean and the setting quiet and peaceful. I would recommend it without hesitation and what's more i would go back there myself...for more!

Hello Travelers,

My name is Dean. I was a pastry chef in many hotels and I have done work with the Frommer Travel Guide. When we arrived in Greece for our first visit we stayed with Niko at the Faros. It was a well located hotel within walking distance to Azilimos village and a great beach. The hotel is very nice with a great breakfast and a big pool. I highly recommend Faros.

We went there for our honeymoon and it was nothing close to the 4 stars they claim to be. The first room they put us in was a small room that stunk like mold that we couldn't stay in there for long. No wonder the smell was so strong...the bottom of the mattress in the bed next to us was all black from mold! I couldn't keep the windows open because they had no screen to protect you from insects. I'm pregnant so we asked to be moved out of there the next morning. They placed us in the room next door that smelled like feces. The air-conditioner wasn't working. The pillows surrounding the bed were full of hairs from previous clients. The night stand and the bathroom counter had hairs also....so much for good hygiene! We bought chlorine wipes and cleaned the rusted bathroom ourselves!! The fridge was a piece of crap, the mosquitoes ate us up alive, the breakfast was so poor with canned fruits, hard boiled eggs and an omelette. I ordered a coffee and brought it to me with spoiled milk, TWICE! Then they charged us for room service 2 euros each time we placed an order! They're thieves to say the least. The place is barely a 2 star hotel with a nice view. And i'm shocked that people fall into their trap and actually pay 220 euros per night in that craphole! And btw, they have one person staff!! yup! ONE!!! He's the pool guy, the bell boy, the room service, the waiter, anything- you name it- he is! oh...and the last day we couldn't use the pool because they had just chlorinated it, something that they could have done during the night but i guess they couldn't move their lazy butts to do it and to just top it all off they told the greeks in the place but "failed to inform" the american group that was there for the aegan festival saying they were gonna put up a sign which they never did.

Room Tip: don't even bother spending your hard earned money there!
