“Your room has a view of the sea, just ignore the 4 lane highway in front of it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2009

This part of the coast has a highway running all along it but also has some glorious beaches and stunning mountains; we used it to get from Sicily to Naples and it's far more preferable to the motorway that runs up the centre of the area as long as your not too bothered about the amount of time your journey takes. It's a bit of a handbrake turn to get off the highway but the hotel has big signs so it's difficult to miss.

The hotel was in a little town called Acquappesa. It was out of season so the town was pretty dead and the beach was blissfully empty (if the Med was a little cold!)- albeit, realistically the beach is a drive not a walk. The staff were all really friendly, spoke great english (and german!) and the food was fine. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable (we stayed in a three bed room which was ok, had a balcony, tv, and decent bathroom) with 18 rooms (I think). However, you do look on to the road which is only literally 20 yds in front of you.

Overall, I'd use this hotel again as a stop off en route but would think twice before using it as a permanent base for a week long holiday due to the road and the fact that there just isn't a lot to do on that coast other than drive to the beach.

For 39 euros bed and breakfast, and on arrival offered a 3 course meal for 15 euros per head with 3 choices for each course. The service was friendly and good. The candle lit dinner was delicious. the room was generally good but the shower could have used a good clean. But overall very good and we returned from Calabria 14 days later and I decided to try them again and got the same deal for 33 euros and a bottle of local fig jam on our departure.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2007

Drove up from Sicily, while enjoying the scenery. The hotel was very easy to find. Although it was fairly late in the day (after dark), there were quite a few people sitting at the bar, which is in the lobby. The receptionist was very nice, spoke good English (I speak a little Italian, however it was a nice change after Sicily and most of Calabria, where virtually nobody speaks English). We were showed to our room almost immediately and repeatedly asked if there is anything else we require.

The room was small, with a very large balcony (go figure). Nothing too special, but I've seen much worse.

We freshened up, came downstairs, and asked the receptionist whether it is possible to go to the beach. She said that it's just a short distance away, however she does not recommend walking there, as drivers are crazy and don't really notice pedestrians. Fine, we took the car and drove there. Eventually, it turned out that we went to the wrong beach - there is one much closer to the hotel, but it was still lots of fun (they have a big rock, which is illuminated at night - looks interesting against the dark sea). The actual beach next to the hotel has tons of rocks in the water - not the best experience for swimming - very hard to get in the water and very hard to get out - small rocks are pretty painful.

Woke up fairly early, because there was a lot of noise in the hallway - kids running around. The breakfast was so so, but the dining room has an amazing view of the sea.

Overall, I would probably stay there again, although it is a little overpriced.

- Spent three nights here, Bed and Breakfast
- Very clean
- Very helpful and friendly staff
- Room had a view (with balcony) over the sea
- Breakfast very nice, with yogurt, fruit juices, croissants, fresh bread, parma ham, cheese, crackers etc
- Location is very handy for travelling north or south up and down the coast, or into the mountains.
- Only drawback is the close proximity to a busy road, which could be noisy if the patio doors are open.
- Good value for money, 68 euros for room for three of us.
