“WiFi: please 5 Euro per hour.... ahahahaha”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

We spent 3 nights at this hotel with our little daughter 1 year old.
The room was okay and the bathroom recently refurbished.
The park was depressive as you can see from the pictures posted by other guests.
Breakfast was a poor experience: the fruit juice dispenser and the "coffee- machine help yourself" is something you expect in 2 stars hotel.
The nearby beach is not bad, but the price for 2 sunbeds is not included in the price of the room (which, considering the park and the depressive pool, is a shame)
Forget the internet wireless at 5 euro / hour (I’m still laughing ahahahah).
The chambermaid with her kindness was the only positive surprise.

We booked on short notice with an eye to a budget and wanted a big pool and lots of space and we certainly got that, the rooms are large with high ceilings also. However, we also needed a gym and wifi and we were not aware at the time of booking that we would be charged a lot extra for using these facilities (we mistakenly thought they came as part of the resort and would have booked elsewhere if we had known as it would not have looked like such a good deal after all) - perhaps our fault for not reading the small print properly! Nevertheless, it set the tone for the whole holiday and since there were 4 of us racked up extra charges right left and centre - pool towels = extra charge, going to the beach = extra charge - we did not try the restaurant other than for breakfast as it was expensive. We had a few lunches at the pool bar which were ok, the better food (and ice cream) was down at the beach bars or in towards the town centre. We certainly had enough Spaghetti a la Vongole to last us for a good long while. We did know about the building works before we went so that was no surprise. Overall, seemed like one of the better options for accommodation and pool in a fairly ordinary area. A car was necessary for us here - and we were NOT charged for parking!

Room Tip: For us the rooms were all dark and had have to have the metal window 'grilles' down all day...

We have just returned form this resort, and we too are disappointed. We picked this hotel because of the gym and pool facilities, as well as the spa. The pool was great and the staff working the pool area were helpful and friendly.
Our room was ok, but not what I would expect of a four star hotel, and to be honest though I have no complaints regarding the staff, again the did not reflect a four star hotel standard.
We were not affected by the building works, and we were close to them, there was very little noise.
Food and drink at the hotel was expensive in comparison to local places, and certainly was not any better in quality, so we often made the treck into Terrenia.
In the end we did not use the gym or the spa, We knew there were charges involved, and was initially prepared to pay them, however in view of our disappointment in other areas, we were not prepared to pay any more in fear of being even more let down.
This is not a bad hotel, it is just not a four star hotel, and did not meet our expectations. If we had paid brochure prices we would have been angry as well as disappointed.

We had a stylish, spacious room with a balcony. the bathroom looked good but the floor flooded every time we had a shower. The grounds are pleasant and outdoor swimming pool and its bar were good and not too crowded.

However, we didn't get to try the restaurants as when we tried to get a table they were fully booked. This wouldn't have mattered much if there were other restaurants nearby but the resort is on the edge of town so you have to drive to find somewhere to eat. We probably wouldn't have eaten at the hotel every night but it would have been good to have the choice so that my husband could have had a glass of wine with dinner some nights. THere is no room servce so that's not an option either.

The other disappointment was that to use the gym you had to pay 17 euros per person per day. This seemed ridiculously expensive so we didn't use that either. (The 17 euros also got you access to the other spa facilities eg indoor pool and sauna but there was no cheaper gym only option if you weren't interested in the other things).

Having chosen the hotel because it had a pool, restaurants and gym, we felt that only getting to use one of these made it poor value for money. I wouldn't therefore recommend this hotel.

At a 4 star hotel, one could expect to be greeted by a welcoming smile and a helpful approach. Forget it - Some of the stuff will be grumpy, deliberately awkward and evasive. Mr Monti, the new manager, has his hands full getting the front desk to be helpful, accommodating, and informed. Try changing rooms, booking a taxi, locating your late laundry - some of the front desk staff will ensure that that experience is memorable by their rudeness and incompetence.

Otherwise, the rest of the staff are charming. The pools are great, and pool side BBQ on the weekends is fabulous and Aldo mixes a superb cocktails and is very friendly. The spa is delightful with a good size hot pools and lots of buttons to press to get spurting hot water - our 10 year son loved it. The gym is well equipped and big. Again, the staff here are delightful.
Avoid the rooms in D block. They are older, some of the lighting is poor, and there are no safes in the room. These rooms are also right by a major building project that start drilling at 7 am. every day except Sunday. The rooms in A and B blocks are new and elegant, they have balconies, safes and are further away from the noisy works. The room staff are also charming and helpful.

Again, it is a pity this hotel tolerates the type of surly reception when the rest of the staff is so pleasant and keen to help. Clearly the range and quality of the amenities justify the 4 stars.

Room Tip: Chose blocks A and B. Modern, with balcony and in room safes. Also quiet.

There is a massive construction site in front of this hotel and doesn't look to be finished for a while.
Room spacious but badly furnished with no in room safe or mirror on wall. Terrible bathroom. When booking a massage there was a charge to enter the wellness centre and a charge to use the indoor swimming pool, which also required a cap to be worn. Breakfast was awful, with tea and coffee from machines and there was an extra charge for any eggs other than scrambled. There was no fresh fruit - it was all tinned. Dinner was good but very expensive and the hotel location is remote so nowhere else to go if you didn't have a car. Taxi fares to PIsa airport are extortionate. The hotel does not provide transfers. For such a large hotel there is nothing( eg. Pool table or table tennis) for older children apart from the swimming pool and tennis court. This 4 star hotel needs to get its basics right instead of concentrating on Michelin starred restaurant.

As a business traveller, the building site in front of the hotel does not really worry me. I have stayed here on 3 occasions, and each time has been a great stay. The rooms are large and well furnished, with proper black out blinds. The pool and bar are nice, and the staff are always friendly.

Please be warned, if you like it lively, you are better staying in the centre of Tirrenia. This is a long walk from the centre, and the restaurant choices are limited.
