“Just real”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2011

A great restaurant, that survived it's move from the hills above Vicchio to Galliano very well. Mirella is a great hostess and the food is simple yet excellent. Try the duck breast capaccio, the pasta con salsa tartuffata and the controfiletto. Yumm. The wild boar stew is great as well. Real Italy

“Still great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2011

For those who have not been in a while the Casa di Caccia has moved to Galliano. They still have the same great food they have always had but no longer do they have the spectacular view. Yes the menu remains unchanged and my favorite is still the ravioli stuff with smoked scamarzo and with a truffle sauce. The new location is very nice and easy to find. The staff is still friendly and the service is good.

“Very hard to find it, but great food and view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2010

We had heard about this place but had opted not to go because it is so far off the beaten path. Then we took a wrong turn and ended up on the road there anyway, so we kept going. It is on the top of a hill overlooking a beautiful valley. It is small, and so when it is full (there was a party of 30 there when we had lunch) it is not quiet. We were originally is a small room until a family with 3 small very loud boys showed up and then we moved to the larger room.

For a starter we had a ravioli stuffed with smoked cheese in truffle sauce that was most delicious. They specialize in wild game that is caught by local hunters. I really wanted to try the duck, but it must have been out of season. We had wild boar in wine sauce and venison in herbal sauce. Both were tender and flavorful. Because it was busy we didn't stay for dessert, but I would go back again and try other dishes. If you are coming in tourist season or with many people, I'd recommend making a reservation.

They speak English and have a menu with translations, too.

“fantastic views and very good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2010

If you can brave the road to this restaurant it's well worth the trip. The views in this former hunting lodge are spectacular. The food is excellent; basic but tasty Mugello cuisine with simple ingredients cooked well. The recption is always warm and the wine list execellent. It's like dining at home.

“Overrated...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2010

In this region you can get much more value for money.
The wild boar is dry, drowning in oil and almost tasteless.
To much salt was used in all dishes we had.
We did not experience this quality-to-cost ratio in any other restaurant in Mugello.
The view form the restaurant is beautiful.
