“Serenity in Como”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012 via mobile

We stayed as a family of 5 in July. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The facility is beautiful and the staff aims to please. Our accomodations were spacious and very well kept. The location is fabulous with the city of Como 10 minutes away. The on site restaurant is excellent. The grounds are private and well maintained.Great value with a host that always smiles. If you are planning a trip to Como La Cassinazza is the destination of choice.

We used the Cassinazza as a stop over in Northern Italy with the family, but would gladly come back also for a longer stay. The cascina is a restored huge farmhouse with ample fields, stables and forests around which were a beautiful discovery for our little son and our dog. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. Bathrooms are very clean, but would need some refurbishment.

We had dinner in the restaurant which offers great local dishes (a good deal of the ingredients is organically grown at the farm). The breakfast is in Italian tradition not really worth mentioning with the exception of the yogurt produced with the milk from the farm.

The staff is very helpful and friendly and merits a particular mentioning.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Cassinazza with three generations, including two toddlers. The staff at Cassinazza were amazing -- very helpful and generous with our children and accommodating to our needs as a large group. The hotel is a beautifully restored farmhouse surrounded by fields with animals, hiking/walking trails, and a wonderful playground for children including covered picnic tables. The restaurant is fantastic -- delicious, locally-grown food at very reasonable prices, and the waiters went out of their way to make our children feel welcome. The rooms are a bit dark and decor a bit dated, but it all adds to the old-farm feel! There is a nice range of rooms available -- from smaller singles to suites and larger doubles. Rooms were exceptionally clean and well-equipped. Overall, a fantastic stay at a great price!

We enjoyed staying here for two nights and would definitely recommend it. We chose it based on a combination of the location and the information from La Cassinazza'a own web site. We wanted somewhere near to Como but a little more rural as we'd already been staying on the lake itself for a couple of nights previously, in Varenna.

You really are staying in a working farm, here, but with a good standard of accommodation. The rural setting is a delight and the restaurant served good quality dishes; that was just as well as there are no other options within walking distance and we decided to eat at the restaurant both nights rather than take the car. Our room was large and comfortable, no problems there. Finding the place was helped with the satnav although it is pretty well signed once you get into Orsenigo.

It was a good location for driving into Como for a visit (we can recommend the funicular, not so sure about Como itself though) as well as Milan. We drove to nearby Erba where there was planty of parking and got the train to Milan for a day trip.

This was our first stay in an agriturismo, we'd definitely try some more.

We stayed at the Cassinazza with a group of friends. The place was just
as we expected it to be. We found it on the internet and the site was very
informative even giving a good indication of the rooms. Clean place and
The restaurant was good too. Enjoyed the countryside and peacefulness.
