“Great rappelling & hiking combination”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

The Boca da Onca fazenda offers hiking and rappelling and it's really worthwhile to take both in combination.
After a short introduction and a 7 m rappelling at the farm, the groups are taken by car to the rappelling platform. The platform is 90 m above ground and people go down either alone or in pairs. Everything is supervised by trained and friendly staff. However, make sure you do have some knowledge of the Portuguese language or someone to translate as most guides do not speak English.
After the rappelling, the hiking tour through the woods starts and stops at several waterfalls with the possibility to swim. Make sure to bring an underwater camera for the last waterfall which is inside a cave.
After the tour, a big lunch buffet with great food is offered to all visitors.

“Disney World - not "ecoturism"”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

The sign says "ecoturism" so we decided to stop for there on our way from Pantanal to Bonito. What shame for Brazil with so much beautifull nature, that a place like this can use that name. This has nothing to do with ecoturism - it is a designed botanical garden with waterfalls. So only go here if you have never seen nice waterfalls before - then it might be super.

An example: The guide started out saying (one of the other turist were kind to translate) "if you look out, we might just see a jaguar"....hmm ok - cool.

But then for the entire 5 hour walk (could have been done in 1 hour) he was whisteling and walking with a stick he banged into the trees all the time - scarring any wild life that might have been there. So we only saw some chickens and some vulgers (pretty fitting).

Also - taking the price into consideration - the only two signs in English (translated) were where you pay, and the "goodbye, hope to see you again" sign. They now no English at all.

Have to say the lunch was good though!

One thing is for sure - they won't see us again. Pantanal is amazing - Bonito is a turist plastic world.

It is packed with nice waterfalls, the last being a really tall and gorgeous one. Nice places to have a bath and an optional rappel from a really tall platform, with a wonderful view
