We ate at the Ship twice during our weeks holiday in the area, having followed the advice on Trip Advisor to book well in advance. The menu is short and simple with the food cooked and presented excellently. The steaks are to be recommended and the large crab salad is massive! We sampled a number of the brewed on the premises beers - this is an adventurious range, whilst some may not be to everyones taste the quality of all is excellent - Sea Wheat, Indian Summer and Ship Hop Ale were all to my taste! We also enjoyed the bottle of Marsanne/Viognier white wine we had - slightly unusual and reasonably priced.
The website describes exactly what you will get - my advice to those people who dislike short menus and paying cash is to go somewhere else!
NB the Ship like many places in Northumberland is dog friendly
