“A relaxing, enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We spent last Saturday night at the hotel, arriving in the afternoon and taking advantage of the leisure facilities available to guests. Swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were very good and we found it an invigorating start to our week-end away.
Our room was located in the main manor house and was fine - a bit on the small side, but everything was very clean, good decor and well presented. The room was freezing when we arrived, but soon warmed up when we returned there after our time in the leisure centre as the heating had kicked in and the room was very comfortable.
We met up with friends early evening and had dinner in the hotel which was really good. The food was excellent, service very good, the staff were very attentive and the bar had a relaxing atmosphere for drinks afterwards. Breakfast the next morning was a bit rushed, as we had slept in later than planned.
Overall, it was a good stay and we would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to others for a leisure break.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the manor house rooms, as the annex did not look very good at all, more like an offic...

I stayed at this hotel on New Years Day evening. Having been on business during the day I did not arrive until 10.30pm and was amazed at the personal level of customer service still available at that time. Equally the Manor House looked stunning upon arrival I was really impressed.

The room itself was spacious and had everything you needed. Equally I could not fault the breakfast in the morning, it was spot on for what I needed.

I would happily stay here again.

The Chilworth Manor Spa doesn't have the best setting in fairness, just off the junction for the M3, and set on what feels like an industrial estate. Although it's an offshoot of the hotel, it is entirely separate so unfortunately there are no nice grounds to walk through and someone had left a supermarket trolley by the front door when I arrived which seemed a little salubrious! In any case there's no point getting het up about these things when you're there for a pamper day, and in general it is a nice fitness club and spa. The therapists are very good, treatments are great, and the pool and hot tub lovely and warm. It wasn't quite what I was after as there is a conflict between the relaxing spa side of it and the fitness part, with wateraerobics in the main pool when I arrived and a bigscreen tv in reception for instance. It's good however I would prefer an out and out spa like Limewood or Chewton Glen for a proper day spa experience.

Dear hrpj,

Many thanks for taking the time to review your spa day experience. A

Although you can see the Research and Development Park from the Gymnasium the Club itself is set within 12 acres of landscaped grounds which are there for all to explore and enjoy. Beyond the 12 acres we are responsible for there is a further 24 acres of conservation land that really does make us an excellent location.

I am pleased to read you were well looked after by our therapists, enjoyed your treatments and the facilities of our Health Club.

I have visited both Chewton Glen and Limewood and they are exceptional, the only draw back of 5 star properties is the 5 star price tag, we at BEST WESTERN Chilworth Manor offer a very good service at an affordable price.

We hope to be able to welcome you back to the Club in the future.

Warm regards

Stayed here for two nights in December. The rooms are ok, beds comfortable and bathroom fair size but silly things like spilt coffee up the wall and cobweb right above the bed spoilt it. Food and drinks average - there was 3 large christmas party's going on at the same time so think they were a little rushed - but staff very friendly and helpfull. The spa across the road is nice - worth a visit.

We held our works Christmas party here. Unfortunately we were in an annex towards the back of the building which had no atmosphere. The serving of the food was terrible - we had a plate of vegetables served to us nearly 20 minutes before the meat was served. I know we were a large party but other places manage to serve all the food together. Food was only average.
The main party room was buzzing and I am sure that if we had been in that area we would have had a better time.

Dear Angiek999,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your Christmas Party experience on Trip Advisor, I am sorry that there was an issue serving your main course. Reading back over the Event Managers reports this issue does not appear to have been mentioned during the event.

I believe you were in our Lord Selbourne Suite, so the organiser of this party would of booked this as a private room rather than join the party shares that take place in the main Manor, which you referred to. Main course take on average between 5 and 8 minutes depending on the amount of guests dining.

I will be going back to the Event Managers to see if anyone can recall any issues with the speed/efficiency that we served main course.

Dear Ticta,

Many thanks for sharing your recent experience at the Hotel.

I am delighted your party had such an enjoyable time with us on Boxing Day and you appreciated your extra treat of wrapped chocolates. Sue in Reservations kindly came to my aid and wrapped all those chocolates for me.

Just OK. The name sounds very grand, although the hotel is just ok. A basic best western. Yes I was fooled.
Food was nice (I had the sirloin and cheese board). Room service was very quick.
Pool area is nice, however I think I will return to Botley Park as the standard of the hotel is much higher, for around the same price.
Rooms are basic, not as good as a decent premier inn.
