“One of the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

A great circuit. In my opinion the second best in Australia after Bathurst. It is very well presented and had many activities available such as go-carts, in addition to the race meetings.

“Must-do on your visit to Phillip Island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

I'm a local of the Island, and have decided to start reviewing the things to do for other Trip Advisor readers. The track is one of my favourite places to go ~ I will always take friends who are new to the region.

Must do's are as follows:

1) Book a Guided Circuit Tour. These are 1 hour walking tours - they take you through some amazing gardens, over the footbridge, to the inside of the circuit (the "paddock"). You'll have a look through Race Control, the VIP sections, a pit, plus some other bits and pieces along the way. It's a brilliant tour - full of interesting facts about the circuit. I personally love the history of the track itself. Note: Included in the price is a self-guided walking tour of the museum, located in the Visitor Centre. By far the best value option.

2) Jump in a Go-Kart. The go-kart track is actually a scale replica of the main circuit. The karts don't go that fast (top speed up to 60km/hr) - but you are quite low to the ground, so it feels a lot faster if you put your foot down! These are great for kids and adults alike - there are tandem karts for young children (minimum age 5) who aren't either confident to go by themselves, or haven't met the height / age requirements (12 yrs + 153cm) to take their own kart. Prices are not cheap, but it's worth it. You get a print out at the end too of all your lap times, speeds, etc.

3) Slot cars. Brilliant! Again, another scale replica of the main circuit - and so much fun! There are 4 cars on the track, and 15 minutes each session. It's a cheap and fun way to kill a little bit of time before your GCT. All laps are timed and ongoing lap times are shown on a LCD TV as you're playing. There are no print-outs though, unlike the karts - so make sure you take a photo of the final results for bragging rights.

Tips:
1) The Guided Circuit Tour is not really suitable for mobility impaired persons. There are a lot of stairs. I'd strongly advise against taking prams. Make sure you bring a camera. There's a couple of beautiful panoramic shots to be taken. A favourite is the viewing platform in the gardens. Also, check the website for any upcoming events on at the circuit prior to your arrival - if it's a smaller event (i.e. Australian Superbikes), they will still do the tours and you'll get a great behind-the-scenes experience. Even the ride days are still good ~ much better to view it all when there's a bit of action on track.
2) Heading down to the Go-Kart track is worth it even if you don't have a go. The views are beautiful, and you can see some of the more notorious turns of the main track from the viewing platform. And it's all free to just walk down and have a look.
3) On the slot cars, make sure you choose either the inside or the outside lane for the most challenging play.

“Love those V8's”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

Many dollars and much effort has been poured into the circuit in the past couple of years making it the best race track in Oz. No better way to spend a weekend than when the Supercars are in town.

This place is amazing and is rightly referred to as one of (if not) the best racetracks in the world!
Whether you are attending for the absolutely amazing motoGP event or for your very own trackday, this place will make you feel like you are in heaven!

Whether on track or as a spectator, everyone loves being at Phillip Island so just make sure you get there one way or another!!

“Classic Cars”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

In early January the classic cars meet here to tour the track. If you like classic cars and want a family day out I recommend a visit. I enjoyed the festival.
