“Nice hotel with good food !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2011

Very nice hotel with big rooms.
I like the open-concept / layout of the hotel and the outdoor pool area is beautiful with a nice relaxing pool and hammocks.
Good location close to the Palenque ruins; lots of wildlife around the hotel (you can hear the monkeys!).
Very friendly staff, helped me with my bags up the stairs.
Only downside was that the internet didn't work very well, and there was no elevator.

Overall good experience and I would definitely recommend staying here.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel itself is nice and good value for money. I bought through ADO bus terminal at 496 Pesos per night for single person including breakfast.
The mosquito netting in my room was slightly damaged but they quickly fixed it when I told them.
Nice pool, although some leaves in the water. Turtle pond and a cute bird cage.
Location is a little walk from the main town/restaurants. Maybe 10-15mins - so no biggie, but there are hotels that are closer.

At last we arrived somewhere in time to use the pool!! This hotel has a very nice pool, large enough to have a reasonable swim.
Rooms were clean and comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. We had an good evening meal in the restaurant and also a good breakfast next morning.
We had a balcony looking out over a grassy area where we saw plenty of bird life and a large iguana in a tree. In the morning we could hear howler monkeys in the trees but could not catch sight of them.

We enjoyed our stay at the Plaza Palenque. Great, helpful staff, a good restuarant and pool (which was especially relaxing after the sticky August days). It is a bit of a walk to the city centre but that didn't bother us. The Plaza is definitely overpriced but for people who are not that adventureous it will provide a comfortable first night or two until you find your way around the town. After a a brief stay here, check out some of the other more affordable and funky accommodations.

We stayed here two nights – one before and one after our trip to the Lacandon Jungle. The hotel was booked by our tour provider. This hotel was only OK, even though the rooms were reasonably comfortable and clean. There was a decrepit feeling to the hotel, which had seen better days, and a damp smell to the rooms. The AC was pretty loud and was not very efficient. The hotel itself is right off the main road in Palenque and about 15 min from the ruins. The hotel service was good -- when we had a question or needed our bags moved, they came very quickly. There is an attached restaurant, which served an OK breakfast. The pool looked nice, but we didn’t have a chance to swim, just hang out a bit near by. The grounds look like there used to be more to the hotel, and way in the back was a cage with a couple of Coatis who didn’t look too happy.

The room smelled badly of mold and there was clearly mold on the celing tiles and water dripping from the celing. I checked other rooms and found similar conditions. The restaurant was mediocre and the pool was unclean. I absolutely recommend staying elsewhere.

We've stayed two individual nights at this hotel (in between a jungle tour). Pool is small, but clean (swimming is allowed untill 22.30pm). Rooms are large. First night, they hadn't received our booking and the room we got then, was not so clean as the room we had the second night.
Breakfast is okay.
Hotel organizes trips to the ruins and the waterfalls, but I think you can save money if you book the tours somewhere in the center.
Walking distance to town Palenque. Near to the main road, but no noise.
I think we've paid too much (51€ per night for two persons). But as we hadn't found any hostal in Palenque that we could book through the internet, we chose this hotel. But there are hostals in Palenque and maybe they would be a better option?
