“An Aussie icon- must see!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

An amazingly interseting place to visit, albeit in the middle of nowhere! Great food- try the Barra and Beff BBQ, decent feed. The beer is cold, the staff friendly and so much 'stuff' stapled, stuck and hung throughout the pub- all left by travellers and visitors. We stayed in the campground- reasonably priced, very basic (and a little dusty) and a short walk to bed!

This pub is a must see!! The walls are covered in bras, money, photos, hats the list goes on, the pub has great character. We were very lucky to get their last cabin, I was surprised at how many people were there. For a pub in the middle of nowhere, its very popular. Our cabin was nice 2 bunk beds and a queen bed, however as clean and nice as our room was the air-conditioning needs cleaning BADLY, it had mould in the vent and when you lay down you look right up into the air-conditioning and can see the mould, hmmm, not nice. Apart from that I could not fault the room. We had dinner at the pub as well, was lovely and they have a good kids corner, yippee for us parents.

Had a memorable night at Daly Waters, The Steak I had was fantastic and very welcome, the beer was very very welcome. Met some great people and had a fantastic night. Its a bit of a quirky place in the middle of nowhere but well worth a stop. Camping is OK a bit basic but cheap at $7

This pub and its accompanying caravan park, camp site and motel accommodation is the only game in town, and the only decent place to stop for 100km around. The pub is an amazing treasure trove of the weird, the wacky and the wonderful and home to some of the finest pub grub around. If you stay here, make sure you devote enough time to wandering through the pub, beer in hand, and check it all out.

As for the motel accommodation, don't get your hopes up too high and you won't be disappointed. We stayed in a 1 bedroom cabin, which comes equipped with a double bed and a pair of bunk beds. Showers are en-suite but are also quite basic. The cabin was equipped with a TV set and a microwave oven, and was pretty clean.

The double bed was a bit on the small side, but was nevertheless comfortable enough for an overnight rest.

One of their famous meals is their nightly beef and barra BBQ. You have the choice of beef, barramundi or a half and half of each. It comes with damper bread and a very nice salad bar. Fresh vegetables in the middle of nowhere!

We stayed here twice on our trip up then down the coast. The pub is great a really fun pub for tourists with lots of great photo opportunities. On our way up there was an entertainer called Chilli on who was absolutely fantastic whatever he gets paid it's not enough! He did a medley of songs, comedy and even poetry. However on our way back down he was no longer on as there is no entertainment during the less busy parts of the year. There was also a lovely Scottish bar man who was cheerful a good laugh and remembered us on our second trip. The rooms we stayed in (pub rooms) were very old and tired and could really do with renovating badly as could the bathroom. Our second room had a hole in wall which we had to stuff with tissue to stop the gecko that was in our room getting back in. The gecko isn't the issue it's the Northern Territory you will get creatures but there shouldn't be holes in the wall. Saying that I would still stay again for one night on your way passing through town. On our first visit the manageress I think it might be Robyn from an email had a reall go at the staff about something which I remember sounded minor at the time something about ice buckets. I always hate seeing managers reprimand staff in the hearing of customers it makes you feel uncomfortable and is unprofessional. It also ends up with staff walking around the place looking miserable which isn't great for customer service. Also when I emailed about rates and availability for the second stay she replied saying she wasn't in the office a I should just call. Firstly if it was my business I would either leave whoever is in the office to respond to the email or I'd ring the office get the info and reply to the guest myself. Or at least let them know the rates which I'm sure as a manager you must know. I almost didn't book because I thought she made no effort as far as acustomer service goes but then there isn't much else in the area worth staying at. As I read on another review this place is living on its reputation a bit. Time to spend some money an have a bit of a refurb.

Thank you for your review Firstly did you report the hole in the wall secondly I did not reprimand I suggested he complete the task as per instructions in the morning staff meeting.
When I responded to your enquiry I was travelling between Darwin and Perth I did not have access to room availabilty and suggested to give the a pub a ring as I was not in the office to check what rooms were available.
The old saying is you pay for what you get those rooms are budget rooms $30 per person and are basic but clean for travellers on a budget We do have deluxe cabins and 1 roomed cabiins for the mor discerning traveller. You will be pleased to know that these rooms are about to undergo a refurbishment as we have only just finished the motel & 1 roomed cabins
Our reputation has been built on the improvements we have made to the pub, the food and surrounds over the last 10 years We have spent a lot of $ on improving facilities. The beer garden itself was a dirt patch with a few old rusty benches now it is paved, covered and has comfortable seating for 250people
The new deluxe cabins (6 mths old) were erected at a cost of $450,000 so you see we are continually improving and putting money back through the business but it takes time and is extremely costly in a remote areas as we do not have tradesmaen locally they have to travel 300kms and charge for every KM. Sometimes it pays to be better informed and know what the real situation is about.
2013 we are building new toilets and showers in the caravan park and putting a larger pool in so you see we are not resting on our reputation.Thank You Robyne

Had a long drive from Alice Springs and arrived just in time to preorder our beef and barra meal for the 6.30pm seating. then checked into our prebooked delux cabin. Once again an outback suprise. Nice, clean comfortable, compact being a transportable. 3 air conditioners 3 tv's two bed rooms and balcony, delightful. Staff friendly, cabin far enough away from the pup so noise was no problem. The pup is very interesting place with allsorts of things hanging on everything so bring a photo or old pair of jocks with your name on to add to the collection. The meal was barby beef and barra with help yourself to salads etc. Good food sadly no entertainment as they left just prior to the wet season. Would stay again. Off to darwin.

We stopped here for lunch: this place is a tourist attraction in its own rights (watch out for the buses) and bigs up the whole outback thing to the point where it's almost kitsch, but you have to smile because it's all tongue in cheek and at the end of the day it's the best (if the only) decent food for mile around.

Salad and steak were decently done, beer was cold and refreshing, and we sat outside under the awnings and enjoyed the "winter" (33C) sun and the local birdlife. Local wildlife can be spotted in the bar as well, looking like it's come out of a Crocodile Dundee film. As a break from the 700k from Katherine to Tenant Creek, it's a well placed and enjoyable place to grab a bite.
