“Netherdene - 5 stars”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

We have just returned home having stayed for five nights at this excellent B & B.

Netherdene is easy to find, just off the A66, but even though we had a room at the front of the house there was no noise from the road. Our room was lovely, very clean with very, very comfortable beds with good quality linen and an endless supply of hot water. You certainly will not be cold if you stay here!

Breakfast is in the sun room - views of the fells competing with the garden birds & bantams - make for a very relaxing start to the day.

You would be hard pressed to find hosts as welcoming and helpful as Dean & Step, which for first time visitors to the Lake District was invaluable. They certainly went out of their way to help us and the advise & suggestions they made for us were perfectly matched to our requirements which has not always happened in the past!

This is what a B & B should be and very rarely is...

We have had a wonderful stay for three nights at the netherdene, couldn't fault it, dean and steph were great hosts, nothing was too much trouble, even providing coffee for us on our return, when we brought sandwiches back in the afternoon , in the lovely sun room!! We met some lovely people also, and spent the evenings in the trout beck inn opposite with them. We took our Labrador and she was made welcome also. Would defiantly return for another visit.

We have just returned from the Netherdene, as we arrived on a Sunday and we don't drive it was nice of Dean to collect us from Penrith train station with the dogs. We were both made to feel welcome and it was also nice for dean to suggest places to eat and explained how to get about on foot. We was offered a welcome cup of tea as we been on train for a while. Dean was patient has my wife had a mishap with the cup of tea. Apologies for the spillage

As we made our way to our room, It was very welcoming and comfortable, Our 2 dogs also were quite at home, as most places we have stayed in the past have not been too friendly with us having dogs. The rooms have ensuite shower, toilet, basin and kettle and TV, with good selection of freeview channels. The rooms also have central heating and additional Oil Raditor if required.

As we both don't drive. The location was perfect for the bus route to either Keswick or Penrith, Workington, Cockermouth. We would recommend to get a bus pass for either 3 days or 7 days from the bus driver when you board the bus as this will save you money on transport costs per day. The daily breakfast is a good hearty breakfast, you can have has much or as little as you like and it sets you up for the day, You can also have cerials,Juice,Fruit,Yoghurts. You can either have a Full English Breakfast or Kippers with a poached egg, Or Porridge if requested.

Thankyou to Dean & Steph for welcoming us to their home.
P.S. Thankyou from Charlie & Sandy (Dogs), Woof, Woof

We will back next year without a doubt, as we all had an excellent break away.

Room Tip: We Stayed In Room 6, Which has excellent Views of the Garden, A Nice and Cosy Room.

Stayed at the Netherdene B&B recently for a walking weekend. From the moment we arrived the hosts were fantastic, they're very friendly and eager to help, especially with advice on walking routes and where to park etc. The location is beautiful and an ideal base for walking, we went up Blencathra which was just a few mins drive away. The rooms clean, tidy and comfortable and breakfast is also very nice. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good base for walking etc in the northern part of the Lakes.

This was our second trip and we stayed for 2 nights this time. Again had a lovely welcome from both Dean and Steph, nothing is too much trouble. Dean gave us advice on where to spend our time and even tipped us off where we could find some free parking! The room was lovely and comfortable at the back of the house with lovely views and the breakfast was faultless. The pub over the road is a lovely place to eat and spend the evening, and couldnt be any closer! Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 6 which was lovely, we have stayed in the family room which is also lovely. I dont...

This is a great location for touring the English Lake district and convenient to the M6 motorway for people traveling to and from western Scotland. It is conveniently situated across the road from the Troutbeck Inn, where you can get a good meal (make sure you book) and a drink. Dean and Steph currently rent out 6 rooms, all en suite, and serve a substantial breakfast in a room with lovely views of the mountains and the garden with Gladys the rooster and his companions. The owners, who have been there for five years are constantly improving the B&B, they are very hospitable and very kind. We saw them help a couple who had arrived late and forgotten to make reservations for a meal. This will be our 'regular' when we visit relatives in the area. Excellent value for money.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the road and the Troutbeck Inn. I thought it might be noisy, but we slept like...

This is the best BB we have ever stayed in. From the moment we stepped through the door Dean and Steph made us welcome and could not do enough to make our stay an absolute delight. The room was superb with a really comfortable bed. The views from the breakfast room were spectacular with unbroken views of the mountains, and the breakfasts were equally spectacular, setting you up for the day. If you are considering a break in the Lake District, I can honestly recommend the Netherdene Country BB as the place to stay.
