“Wonderful sanctuary in the Suburbs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

As soon as you step into the Astoria, you are made to feel so welcome and at home. Natalie & Michael are the perfect hosts and do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. All the details are taken care of and the rooms are all cosy, welcoming and extremely comfortable. Natalie greets you at breakfast and makes sure you want for nothing. I was lucky enough to stay at Easter so there was lovely Easter Eggs, chocolates and hot cross buns for everyone. It's all these details that made staying here so lovely. The continental breakfast is very good & offers a good choice of foods. I stayed in the silver room and it was so comfortable, clean and very stylishly decorated. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would recommend the Astoria to anyone wanting something more personal and welcoming than your big impersonal hotels. I will stay here again. Thank you so much Natalie & Michael. I couldn't have asked for nicer proprietors and a more beautiful place to stay.

My stay at the Astoria far outweighed all expectations.
I was lucky enough to make a last minute booking (same day) and was accommodated for in every way (even a late check in).
The service was stunning, a short tour to show all the features and services offered before a quiet peaceful sleep.
Breakfast the next morning was delicious, with nice friendly conversation to top it off.
The standout piece was the bathroom. Featuring a spa bath, double shower with massage shower, and outstanding water pressure made all the difference after a long day.
Would definitely recommend to any traveler, and will stay again.
Thank you!

Room Tip: The spa room is far and out the best.

Nice and friendly B&B, very clean and tidy with a separate entrance you can access anytime.
Large bathroom with bathtub. Breakfast was very good and products different than the usual toast !
A feel like home place pretty close to the city : somewhere you definitely go back to !

Very clean and quiet b&b. Service is great! The owners are lovely and know well the touristic attractions of Perth.
Room was great and bathroom pristine.
Continental breakfast was good.
You need a car though because it is in the suburbs!
Would definitely stay in Astoria again!

Our stay at Astoria was great. Natalie and Michael really look after you! With a homely breakfast and a nice chat in the morning, and a good firm bed to rest up at night. The bathroom goes beyond expectations, with an Italian sourced double shower with unbelievable water pressure! The spa is very relaxing, as is watching the fish which is part of the bathroom scenary. The room we stayed in had a little private courtyard, which is nice for a glass of wine or two. We didn't use the pool but is there for guest use. Natalie supplies a mini bar which is great for all those midnight essencials. If you aren't certain on the best way to spend your day, ask Natalie as she has some good suggestions one being a local swan valley German brewery yum!! I would suggest booking through their website, as it is a lot easier, and you avoid company booking fees. Thanks Natalie and Michael for a refreshing stay!! - Anica and Tim

Room Tip: We enjoyed the platinum room

We stayed in the spa room ('Platinum Room) for 2 nights over the hottest weekend in Perth in 47 yrs. The accommodation was perfect: Lovely hosts who took time to talk to us over breakfast (rather than just serve up and disappear).

Our room was just right, with plenty of storage. The bathroom was amazing - by far the best bathroom we have ever seen in a B&B or Hotel. It was bigger than the bedroom itself! Very large 2 person shower, including a massage shower, double sinks, huge spa bath and a fish tank in the wall. If only we could have a bathroom like that in our own home!

The swimming pool area was also very pleasant with a large pool and various seating options (including a hammock), all under the shade - which was very welcome on the 42 degree days!

The shared kitchen was a bonus - especially having a large fridge to keep your drinks cold, and the option of a microwave if you didn't want to eat out all the time.
We ate out at a lovely Italian restaurant nearby - 'Villa da Vinci' which we highly recommend, especially if you can get a seat outside on the terrace.

We would definitely recommend this B&B and will be going back there later in the year when we visit the tourist spots of the northern suburbs with my parents.

Room Tip: The Spa room is well worth the extra money.

My five day stay at the Astoria Retreat Bed and Breakfast was initially unintended, having discovered my original accommodation plans in the heart of the city centre had fallen through. This resulted in a pleasant surprise. The retreat is suitably named - it is a bit of a gem in the suburban area. I found the pricing very reasonable given when combined with the daily taxi service into the city centre, it proved less expensive than my city centre option. The property owners, Natalie and Michael, provided an inviting, unintrusive and extremely professional service - no request was too much. The room (spa room) was beautifully presented and luxurious (large spa, massage shower, gorgeous linen and all the trimmings). A substantial breakfast was provided daily (including a range of traditional European offerings). Across the board I found incredible attention to detail! Unfortunately, due to my personal plans I did not have the opportunity to try out the pool and gym area, but perhaps next time.

Well done Natalie and Michael - I thoroughly recommend you.

Room Tip: Definitely go with the spa room!
