Free Entry, great shaded picnic areas, BBQ's, walking and biking trails, games areas, dogs allowed, kiddie paddling area - what more could you want?
We took a loaded esky and got there nice and early as the biggest picnic shelters are reserved by bookings and the smaller tables are first in best dressed.
Lovely grassed, shaded areas (We settled down at Mussel Pool away from the hubbub of the village).
Kids took their bikes and rode for hours on the tracks.
We walked some of the shorter trails which was lovely. Lots of wildflowers and wildlife this time of year to explore, but nothing too strenous.
We should have takent the soccer ball and cricket set!
Had our dogs with us and there is a wonderful fenced area that you can let them off the lead.
We spent a few pennies on the tram ride and bought an icecream so it was a very cheap day out.
We didnt bother with the Wildlife Park.
Have been to the heritage tractors before - they are definitly worth a visit.
An amazing place to make your own low key fun and get away from the commercialism of the city. Plan it and it wont cost you much at all.
The shops arent much, barely worth a look. Take your own food and drinks (plenty of water fountains to refill the kids bottles) and a thermos, dont bother with the Cafe.
