Where do I start with my experience of this hotel????????
I decided to take a trip out of Cebu to a hotel by the beach and decided on Casa Del Mar Golf Resort.It looked good in photos.But that is as far as it got!Advertised to have golf,restaurant,non motorized watersports,pool,beach,cable tv wifi in public areas.
Where do I start?Firstly,arriving in the town of San Remigio,you then have to take a motorcycle about 6-7km just to get to the gate of the resort.Then,another 2km from the gate to the actual hotel.So,its far away from the town.So,effectively,you are trapped there unless you pay to take a motorcycle back to the town.
Upon arriving at our room,we found no tv,no internet connection,faulty fittings,no fridge.We asked to move and we were "upgraded" to another room which did have a fridge and tv,but still no internet connection.The tv worked,but no cable available,even though we counted 5 satelites within yards of our room.The plug in the sink was broken which kept the water in the sink.Twice we asked for it to be repaired before it overflowed.Again,some fittings not working.
The food is good,but seriously overpriced,probably double what you normally pay in any restaurant in Cebu.A small can of beer was three times the price of a supermarket.
When we enquired about possibly horse riding on the beach,we were told the horses were actually in Cebu,3hrs away by bus!!!Non motorized watersports consisted of one canoe,with no paddle/oar.Pool was small and clean most of the time.The beach,small as it was,was filthy.Plenty of staff around could have cleaned it quickly if they wanted to.Speaking of staff,not exactly friendly,and very lax in attitude.Service charge of 10% automatically included in everything which does not go to the staff,but directly to the owner.Golf expensive for the course condition.
Overall,would not recommend this hotel.Even the driver taking us back to the town said they get very little if any repeat business.I am not surprised!Even if it was free,and free transport from the town to the hotel,I would not stay here again!!

On behalf of the Owners we apologize to the the Guests that had a disappointing experience in Casa del Mar.
During the last half year Casa del Mar has been under negotiation and its now finalised. From April 1, 2013 a new, young and experienced Management is taking over the Resort.
GOLF COURSE REFURBISHMENT
The new management is dedicated to golfers and the golf course will be refurbished. Tee houses and toilets will be built, the road will be improved, new Golf Carts will be imported, the Turf Management will be adding new staff, an additional hole will extend the course to 6400 yards, improvements will be done to the Irrigation system and new mowers will be added to the Turf Equipment.
The Hotel will be modernised, flat screens placed in the rooms, new linen, authentic Korean food will be added to the menu, Karaoke, watersport facilities, WiFi, etc will also be upgraded. Most faucets, doors, curtains will be replaced. An additional indoor dining venue will be added for non-golfers.
NON-GOLFERS SUITES & ROOMS
The Suites on the Ground Floor will cater to non-golfers, families and Members and have a separate Reception and Guest care staff unit. Only the Ground Floor Suites and Rooms will be bookable On-Line.
The Bungalows, Second Floor and Penthouses will be reserved for Golf Packages and Golf groups. These rooms will have separate Guest care staff.
POLO & HORSES
A dozen horses will remain on the property and riders who want to learn or practice polo skills are welcome. Half the polo field will be maintained for Stick & Ball practice. The other half will be used for casual riding on the polo field and around the golf property. Swimming with horses will also be available. All horse activity must be booked the day before. Lessons are offered on weekends only.
