“a weekend of music”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

Joined a group of jazz lovers for 3 nights of great music and food.
The hotel situated 4 miles north of Shrewsbury in a former manor house in nice grounds.
Large enough to accomodate a wedding besides the Jazzers without disturbance to either party. We were offered room 30 on the first floor which links the old house to the newer accomodation and function area. A huge room with 3 piece suite and table in addition to the usual furniture, and wardrobe area plus bathroom , bath and shower. Very comfortable room and handy for the function rooms but a traipse to the Dining room in the original part of the building for breakfasts. 2 adjoining rooms with panelled walls self service constantly replenished. Quite a hectic scene when the hotel is full but comfortable seating and pleasant when avoiding the busy periods.
The staff tho'out the hotel were always helpful and friendly. Nice lounges and bar areas and lawned gardens for relaxation.
We would certainly consider the a most suitable venue for the future visits

Room Tip: We heard no complaints from any of our group about their rooms but were delighted with our room 30

We have just had a wonderful weekend stay at Albrighton Hall, on the DBB option for two nights, staying in a very comfortable and spacious room in the Stable block. The bed was to die for - best nights sleep in weeks! Very clean and well presented.
The food was excellent at both breakfast and dinner. The staff could not have been more helpful. The bar staff, especially Alfonso, was very attentive and made us feel very welcome.
Our weekend started on friday afternoon with time to have a leisurely drink in the gardens, before the local school arrived for their "prom" at the hotel. They were impeccably dressed and were so well behaved - a credit to the school.
The ladies enjoyed the spa treatments on both days, leaving time for the men to have two games of golf at Church Stretton (not to be missed) and Shropshire Golf Centre (Telford).
One of the best weekend breaks we have had - will be back!!!

We stayed here for two nights while attending a wedding in Shrewsbury. The old part of the house and the gardens are delightful and the setting is very pleasant. The public rooms in the old building are great; there's a particularly nice panelled room where you can take afternoon tea. The rooms are a decent size and has most of the facilities that you would expect from a hotel of this price and classification but there were a few things that were not quite good enough (for example, the toiletries were not quite as good as you'd expect and housekeeping was a bit slow to make the rooms up each day). We had a few things that didn't work - the television wasn't working and someone had to come to the room to sort it out and our connecting rooms were locked when we arrived. The member of staff sent to fix it when we asked comically had no idea how to do it and told us she had spent some time before she knocked on the door trying to unlock an adjacent broom cupboard. Two other things about the hotel worth being aware of. The hotel has a spa and it was quite disconcerting to find guests wandering all round the hotel half-dressed (just in the spa dressing gowns). And the hotel is used for evening events, weddings etc, and these can get quite noisy in the modern part of the hotel (rooms in the outbuildings, the Stable Block and the School Master's House are well away from the function rooms and would be quieter). Overall it's a lovely setting but service and facilities not quite as good as you'd expect for this class of hotel.

We went there to spend 1 night with dinner and breakfast. Everything was excellent. As being offered this treat, we upgraded to a privilege room and we were really impressed with the room. It was really spacious with complementary soft drink, nescaffee coffee and such a beautiful view in the lake. From the spa facilities to the dinner everything was great. Staff were really friendly but we would like to give a special mention to the reception staff were nothing was to much trouble to make us feel special. Thank you for all this great memories :)

we booked this hotel for a reunion, 15 of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and polite. Internet connection not great and some areas need a bit of TLC but we will book again for next year, they made us very welcome

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights
for our 30th wedding anniversary on the wine and dine deal. Staff were excellent and nothing was to much trouble . Patrick in the restaurant was great he made us feel special and was at ease with all the other guests . Dev in the bar was very good my only gripe was I wanted I pina colada cocktail that was on the bar menu but no pineapple was available any where in the hotel which I found strange for a 4 star hotel . Other than that I found no faults at all , we will be going back again soon .
