“Weekend trip at the sea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

The millennium hotel in Mussanah is a very nice and we'll run hotel. We stayed there for a weekend for the first time ever. We had ordered a garden view room but was upgraded to a sea view room for free on arrival. And that was just the thing. The view on the sea side was stunning and the little patio just made the stay delightful. The room was big and clean. The bed was large, and the bath room was clean and huge. The room comes with free wifi and a television with many different channels. The internet I'm the room was very slow, and was not very stabile either. The resort has a nice beach attached to it,and large pool area and a great miniature golf course also. The restaurant was ok, the breakfast was included in the price, but was what we would call of a ok hotel standard buffet. The dinner the same. A good variety of dishes, but nothing that stood out as outstanding. The price of the hotel is ok. You get your money's worth and for that the hotel is great. One thing was the last mornings breakfast. We went a 9 but the dinning hall was very crowded. The staff was very stressed and the food was not all up to standard at that time.

All in all a great hotel to visit if you are in theMuscat area and want some days at the beach away from the city.

Everything is huge in this double hotel, so it dwarfs the client a bit. This is the place for large tourist groups, looking forward to buffets - all you can eat, and music during dinner; not bad by the way, but way too loud.
It was a difficult discussion with the chef via the waiter that lobster carpaccio should not be served deep-frozen, but the response was that they keep the lobster on ice in order to keep it fresh. Anyhow, after 10 minutes heating over the candle, some of the taste presented itself.
Rooms are standard. Garden view means Parking view with some shrubs. These rooms are on the west, so in winter time the balconies provide a good late afternoon place to read, since the seaside is just too windy to be comfortable. Nice swimming pool. Mini golf even in the night. WiFi is failing at times, but that seems to be usual in Oman.

We stayed at the Millennium Resort from Thursday to Saturday last weekend, and could not have been happier. I didn't want to leave!
At check-in, I asked if we could upgrade our room to sea view, but we had already been given a sea view room without even asking, and without additional charges. Our room was beautiful, very clean, and faced the Gulf of Oman for an incredible view.
We intended to go out and see the city, but loved the resort so much we spent both days there- swimming in the pool or at the pool bar, reading on our balcony, kayaking in the marina and playing volleyball and badminton on the grounds. There is also an amazing sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, putt putt golf, tennis courts and continental breakfast, all free of charge. Massages, nail services, kayaking, sailing, and other services are available for an additional charge.
Every staff member was extremely polite, helpful and friendly, especially Sameer at reception and Yara at the pool and spa.
There is basically nothing around the resort (Muscat is more than an hour away), but you can spend the day and drive in if you want. This place is PERFECT for a relaxing weekend with plenty to do on the grounds. If you live in the UAE it's a short drive for a weekend trip, and if you have the Dubai Entertainer book, there is a voucher for a free night with the purchase of a night. I highly recommend this resort!

Room Tip: Sea view is a must!

The hotel is nestled in a lovely little town called Musanaa and has a very nice marina for berthing. The staff are very friendly and the place is very well looked after. Its only an hour drive from Muscat and can be a nice get away for Muscat residents for a weekend.

- booked on expedia, 3 nights for USD 818.19, taxes included, Superior Room, Sea View
- stayed 30 dec 2013 - 02 jan 2014
- there were problems when signing in: management tried to offer garden view (which is in fact - parking and highway view), instead of sea view. after 3 tries they finally offer the initially booked superior room with the sea view (and the room was excellent!)
- indicate/insist on non-smoking room if you need it (it is better to indicate it at the time of booking) - there might be some problems with that, as the internal policy is somewhat flexible
- prices for everything inside the hotel are insane, if compared to the average of the country (expect Hyatt level prices, and very-very average service, totally not matching the prices)
- try omar hayam restaurant at the main highway, 10 minutes by car from the hotel, very good kitchen and 5 times cheaper than in the hotel (omar hayam - is a very old local chain of high cuisine restaurants - tastes of arabia, india and asia)

the good:
- modern facilities, design
- nice wild beach to the left of marina
- good fitness facilities
- good breakfast (meal variety)

the not-so-good:
- personnel definitely should be more attentive & professional
- the waiters never come to you
- prices are restaurants/bars, in-room dining are high

the location is good for a long weekend, there is no need to go around, everything is in there. quite a long drive to muscat city, esp. to down town

Room Tip: only sea view (garden view is overlooking the parking and the highway)

We have stayed here for our anniversary & enjoyed a stay of 2 days lot. cleanliness of room is good, dinner & breakfast is excellent, pool & room services are excellent. Recommended for stay not more than 2-3 days as many facilities are yet to be open. recommended for the ones who want to spent quality time with family.

I stayed for one night before we went on other Oman adventures and had a fine time. The hotel is far out of town and surrounded by absolutely nothing. Taxi drivers didn't even know where it was located. When picked up a taxi at the central souk in Muscat they were all discussing how to get there. Finally someone took us and it turned out about half way that they didn't actually know where the hotel was. Instead he pulled into a lot where a lot of taxis were parked outside of town and sent us in a different taxi that actually knew where he was going after several minutes of discussion among the other drivers.

If you're looking for somewhere you don't have to leave for the weekend, this is a good candidate. It is really a resort. The complex has diving and sailing onsite, and it looked like some other activities as well. The gym was small but had new equipment.

The rooms were nice. Great bathrooms- we liked the bath/shower. Our rooms also had nice balconies for sitting on and looking at the small beach area they have on the property.

We ate the breakfast included in the room rate and were impressed. There were endless options and the quality was good. We had a nice outdoor table. It was just a nice experience that we weren't expecting.

Everyone in our group agreed that it would be a good place to return for a weekend to just chill out. Again- if you're looking to explore around Muscat, this is not the right place for you. They do have shuttles to town/airport, but they are rather expensive. You will not find a taxi anywhere near the property.
