“Lovely resort, but average service, & middle of no where!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

We stayed in this hotel over the New Year Weekend for a special NYE package of a Masquarade Ball with overnight stay and late checkout. Since we had two small boys, we arranged for the hotel to provide baby-sitting while we went down for the party.

The positives:
- Beautilful Lobby!
- Elegant rooms
- Great balcony views of the sea
- 3 huge pools with 2 infinity ones at the beach

The negatives:
- Service is really below par
- This property was made to host the world beach games and an athelet village is adjacent (empty) and it a sports complex trying hard to become a luxury resort
- The staff were very stretched (maybe because it was a busy NYE) but the same staff did most of the restaurants, some of them also sang, some were at the bar, hence you got the sense that the hotel was over-working them in every capacity

Now, with that out of the way, this place is brilliant for the family...very large open space, just that the bay in front of the hotel is very emply, and all the pool and luxury sun beds and umbrellas are at the side of the hotel (a considerable walk away), maybe they need to put some life into this seemingly abandoned bay space that was probably useful for the beach games that it had hosted.

But what really was strange was the lack of entertainment options at this resort... speaking to some of the guest, they literally felt trapped as the cab was a min US$ 130 to the main city of Muscat.

Its good place for a get-away from the city and unwind, and is ideal for families.

Room Tip: Ask for the higher floor and pay extra to get the sea-view, because there's nothing on the other...

Great service from friendly staff, food is far better you would expect & there are so much choice its difficult to select which to choose from, the chef will cook to your personal taste which gives an aded touch. the private beach is clean with modern brollies & loungers, the pool is very good with a bonus - the pool bar which we found the prices very cheap, offers on with beers giving that extra customer satisfaction. One draw back is that they are building an extra wing & to hear workmen drilling, grinding whist relaxing poolside is not good, All in all we would recommend the Hotel & will return here again

Had a five night trip to millenium and it was fantastic. The staff were amazing and the food was brilliant. The hotel grounds were well kept and there was everything for diving to kite surfing available. We had a really great time and would definitely go again.

New hotel manager is taking service seriously. We had a great time by the pool and on the beach.

Really nice place and very quite.... Restaurant staff need to have a better attitude if they are to keep their jobs.....

This is a nice hotel with a great view if you get a room looking out to the sea. The facilities are ok for a 4 star, but have stayed in better. ie, there are no proper indoor changing & shower facilities by the pool, which would come in handy on the last day once you've checked out if your flight is late in the day; and no where to leave your luggage.

There is a BIG BUT though; and that's the BAD attitude of the staff.
During our weeks stay, we had 3 sleepless nights. On 2 separate nights we were woken up in the early hours of the morning by very loud wedding guests leaving the hotel. This wasn't just loud talking but continuous yelling & screaming. I'm sure most of the hotel would've heard it. I complained after the 2nd night & asked to be moved to another room, which they did; but I had to pressurize them to move us to the other side of the hotel, as they just wanted to move us up a floor where the noise would still be heard outside. So of course we had to pack all our stuff up. I was not happy. What made it worse was the appallingly BAD attitude of the staff. We didn't get one single apology. Their reply was that we have weddings every weekend. Totally unacceptable.
Another night we were woken at 4:00am by the fire alarm going off.
And on 2 occasions our electronic keys wouldn't operate the room door. Again, their reply was 'Well they should do'. Unbelievable. Again no apology.

When it came time to check out, they wouldn't offer me any form of recompense. I spoke to the head of Customer Service, and even then there was no apology. They just didn't know how to deal with the situation. She went to get the manager to deal with it.
I did get an apology from him & nice words, but he was categorically not willing to give any discount off the bill or incentive to return. So we most definitely won't be returning there again & I will do my utmost best to put off all other ex-pats from going there also.
These kind of people don't deserve to be in business.

Don't get me wrong, we had a great holiday in Oman; it's just that the staff of this hotel didn't contribute towards it.

Room Tip: Don't get a room above or close to the entrance if you want to sleep - very noisy with wedding g...

This place is a welcome break for those living in Muscat and looking for a weekend getaway. Just follow the sign boards on the highway heading towards Sohar. At a round about which has 2 ships turn right and you can easily find the hotel.

Positives
1. Relatively new, has got some Hitech equipment in the rooms like IP Phone, TV connected with internet etc.
2. Buffet breakfast is excellent, wide variety even for vegetarians
3. Very nice swimming pools

Negatives
1. Food is a bit expensive
2. Check in could have been more organized
3. Kids center was closed whenever we went, not sure what was the point then
4. In the bathroom the height of the tub is too high and not so safe especially for kids

Very good and confortable Hotel. Rooms are very spacious and clean.Try to have a sea view room, spectacular! So the bathroom, spacious with a moonsoon shower.
Restaurant has a wonderful international buffet. Infinity swimming pool is very nice facing the sea and the beach very quite and clean. Sea really nice.
So I really suggest a week end or 3/4 nights staying at Millenium Hotel.

Room Tip: Deluxe sea view is the best choise.
