Good location shame about the really uncomfortable beds and as we had a family room one of the single mattresses was on the floor with no base at all. We had to go and ask for milk as only left 4 milks.

We stayed here for one night, the bed had a massive dip in the middle so both my husband and I had an awful nights sleep. There was only 2 towels in the room one of which had a long pubic hair in it, thankfully we were only at this place for about 10 hours, we couldn't wait to leave.

***SEE NOTES RE: BREAKFAST AND MEALS: this Travelodge is 1 mile from the best unlimited breakfast in the area and excellent unlimited family restaurant: Taybarns Newcastle Under Lyme-it makes it a SUPERB combination for accommodation and food for young families***
Repeat visit to Stoke Talke, set near to attractions such as Waterworld, Stoke Plaza skate park, Monkey World etc. Another great stay with very friendly and helpful staff, easy free parking, great access from the road network, no hassles. Had minor issue with one room with a damaged mattress but was professionally resolved by helpful staff.
We like this Travelodge as it is away from town noises and tends to attract more families who don't disturb your sleep at 3am as can be found in central locations which are more accessible to pubs etc and attract more "parties". Also loads of free parking, Little Chef outside if you need it, but amazingly the superb Newcastle Taybarns family restaurant (see my other reivews) is one mile/one island down the dual carriageway away and this coupled with Stoke Talke is the killer budget combination for families with kids wanting a great break away with amazing food, cheap accommodation with easy access and loads of things to do cheaply locally.
Other reviewers can criticise Travelodge all they like for not being posh or new. I'd rather regularly use their great room prices (esp for 2 adults, 2 kids), decent clean rooms and proximity to great things and have an adventure frequently rather than go elsewhere less often.
The quieter out of town location and proximity to Taybarns makes this the very best choice for young families wanting a budget short break near to good stuff to do. We will be back!

Room Tip: All four rooms we have stayed in have been great for 4 of us. Families: go to local Taybarns to eat...

This was a Travelodge, if you expect frills and lace you'll be disappointed. However it was a solid bed, clean room, tidy hotel and the staff were polite. And more importantly there was a cup of tea!!
Not knowing the area this hotel did seem a bit far from anywhere, there was a Little Chef within walking distance, but that was about it. It was easy to find and get to by road and we didn't have to travel far to our appointments so for us the location was fine.
The money we saved on the bed allowed us to spend more enjoying ourselves. Simply as a bed for the night it was perfect. Great value for money.
My only concern was the exit from the car park. It was a bit potholed and heading down hill into a hole wasn't ideal, a lower car may have come off worse??
Ooh and a toilet brush, I know it's all very minimalist, but is that really a luxury?!

First impressions were not at all that great. The whole place is very outdated and in need of an urgent refurbishment.
I was absolutely appalled by the bed; it completely sank in the middle and sounded like it was going to snap as it was creaking. I had an awful sleep because of this.
The heating in the room is either too hot or too cold, no happy medium. The bathroom was disgusting. There was body hair in the shower and up the tiles, the shower curtain was dirty and smelled really musty.
The kettle in the room was filthy as were the cups. The tea spoon already in the cup was stuck to the bottom. For what we paid, I didn't expect a 5 star. Donna at the front desk was very friendly but the next morning, there was no member of staff on reception to discuss our concerns with regarding the room.

After reading some negative posts we were pleasantly suprised when we arrived. The room was very clean - bed covered with mattress protector - spacious and warm. For a family it was great - cheap, clean and comfortable. The staff were lovely and welcoming. If I had to find a bad point - mybe a new shower curtain? But for the price we paid more than happy!

The Travelodge offers excellent value for money; they don't provide toiletries, other than soap,(and they make this clear when booking) but the towels are huge, the kettles efficient and the room spotless. It's not too difficult to remember to take your own shower gel/shampoo. More tea/coffee etc. can be obtained from reception. The staff are pleasant and obliging; and once you have stayed a couple of times they do in fact greet you in a friendly fashion - more than can often be said about extremely pricey places.
