We booked out the site exclusively to celebrate my 50th birthday with family (there were 12 of us) and arrived late Friday afternoon to a very warm welcome from Catherine.
The yurts and extra bell tent looked glorious sitting in the field with the sun blazing down and inside they were so pretty with luxury bedding, fluffy white towels and handmade soaps and shower gels.
We bought pre prepared toppings for jacket potatoes, and although it was warm we lit the wood fired stove in the wooden communal yurt to cook our spuds while we sploshed in the hot tub that was ready upon our arrival.
The shower block was clean and had everything you needed, including hairdryer and straighteners. Hot water was always plentiful and there is plenty of sockets for several people to charge phones etc and lockers, if required.
The yurts are pretty well spaced apart, so there is plenty of privacy should you book as a couple.
The views were stunning, and there is plenty to do in the area, with lots of footpaths leading from the site We visited Bakewell in the Peak District and Trentham Estate and the Monkey Forest during our stay. Younger members of the family went to Alton Towers, just 5 mins down the road (they managed just 3 main rides all day, queuing up for 3 hours for one of them!).
The toilets were eco type and were surprisingly non fragrant with plenty of hand sanitiser and toilet rolls there to use.
I personally stayed in Elderflower, in the corner of the field and farthest away from the shower block so a little more private. We did share with a few harmless spiders although, during our stay, none of the other yurts had these visitors.
There were a few horse flies and mozzies who were a bit troublesome, so do remember to take some repellant.
We were blessed with the sunshine but no matter what the weather, I believe we would have had a superb time anyways and would thoroughly recommend anyone to try! Catherine has thought of absolutely everything.
My birthday was perfect and the time we spend at Secret Cloud House Holidays was special and precious and will never be forgotten.
