“The most beautiful place on earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

During the month I spent in Colombia last year, I went twice to Hostal La Finca...I have genuinely never been to such a beautiful place that transmits so much harmony and simply pure happiness. This is not only because of the absolutely astonishing view you have on the mountains, the variety of flowers and fruit trees, the massive pool, simple but lovely rooms, the amazing food, but also because of the hosts and the general warmth of people and the entire concept of this place. You have to go yourself to see what I mean and experience this unique place and its' people. I assure you that you will fall in love with Hostal La Finca immediately, just as I did, and never want to leave!

Hostal la Finca is something you should not miss! About 500 meters above San Jeronimo, Antioquia, only about 45 minutes from Medellin, it's a completely different world. Much warmer climate than Medellin, but not so hot that you're uncomfortable, it's perfect! Alexis and Matilda are like family members inviting you to a country home. The swimming pool is a luxury, the meals are gourmet, and the beer, COLD ! Mila the cat is somebody that you want to put in your backpack and take home. The waterfall, only about 15 minutes walk, is a refreshing, beautiful place. My wife and I have stayed there three times now, and whenever we have a couple of days free, all we have to do is say "finca", and there is no argument. Do yourself a favor, and visit this wonderful place. You will not want to leave, EVER !

The best spot for a quiet get away outside of the hectic city pace. The owners are beautiful, the landscape is gorgeous, and the pool is the best way to beat the heat. Do yourself a favour and check it out :)

I stayed here with some school buddies a couple weeks ago. The property is beautiful, with lush vegetation and unforgettable views of the mountains. But the hosts were what made it special--smart, worldly, amazing cooks, and some of the most friendly people I've ever met. Alexis took the time to show us some nearby waterfalls, Matilda cooked fantastic, healthy meals (complete with a new type of homemade fruit juice with every meal).

Such interesting and kind people--didn't feel like a hostel. I would recommend this to any traveler who wants a break from noisy backpacker hostel life. I'm definitely going back next time I'm in the Medellin area.

We had a magical 3 days at the finca. The property is in a gorgeous setting on a hillside surrounded by serene mountains with a great pool, hammocks, comfortable rooms, and bathrooms with hot water. The hosts (I say hosts instead of owners because they make you feel like you are staying at your friends' place, not a hostel) were so gracious and fun to be around (they are also fluent in English, Spanish, and German). They made everything so easy for us, from airport transportation to personal tours of the nearby waterfalls. Definitely order meals there- they are fantastic cooks and use local and homegrown ingredients. The location is a great jumping off point for short and long hikes, visits to local towns, and an otherwise tourist free area where you can easily interact with the local people that live nearby. There is also an adorable puppy on the property. Definitely the highlight of our amazing Colombia trip. We miss it already and can't wait to go back!

The hostal is located in a beautiful place. It is just far enough from town to feel like you can disconnect and slow down, but just close enough that you can easily get there and back on your way. The food is awesome. Locally grown veggies and food in general. The meals are creative and tasty. There are great hikes to waterfalls and through the mountains. There are lots of opportunities for photography enthusiasts or just people who like to relax with a book or swim. I recommmend it to anyone looking to relax and have fun.
