“Classic mediocre chain restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013 via mobile

For my American counterparts - primi is a hybrid between TGI Fridays and Olive Garden. That's the best way I can think of to describe it.

The food is average - but don't expect high quality or innovation. Their pizzas are better than their pastas. The pastas are very oily , and loaded with excess cream and sauces. Of course this is an attempt to hide that the pasta isn't fresh made.

The desserts are ok - but I find them overly decadent. For example - the half portion of the brownie comes with a wedge slice of brownie - covered in a chocolate sauce , a huge scoop of ice cream , drizzled in chocolate sauce , and the plate is dusted in cocoa. The chocolate cappuccino is a half hot chocolate - half cappuccino. It comes in a mug that can only be described as a deep soup bowl with a handle.

Again it's just overkill hiding the lower quality ingredients.

Now the good stuff - This primi has an amazing uninterrupted view of table mountain and robbed island. It's across the street from the beach. That alone gives reason to visit it at least once - although I prefer it for drinks as opposed to dinner.

The wait staff are trained to always look busy - and high energy - but they tend to be lacking in attentiveness too.

All in all - it's just an ok spot to eat at but nothing to write home about.

“So many otpoins in a great athmposphere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

There is something for everybody on the Primi-Piatti menu, including the gluten free celiacs in our family. We thoroughly enjoyed our outside table and the fantastic and personable service.

“Best Primi in Cape Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

As locals we had been frequenting this restaurant since it opened and can still rate it as the best Primi in Cape Town. The restaurant has a vibrant and friendly atmosphere with excellent views towards Table Mountain. During winter they have the fire place going and during summer they open the big windows to give you an uninterrupted view across the bay towards the mountain. Food is well prepared, generous portions and served by friendly waiters. They are best known for their excellent pastas and pizzas but also serve excellent seafood, steaks, etc. Very child friendly with a play area for the small ones where they can make their own dough cakes. Definitely worth while visiting when you are in Cape Town.

“Primi Table View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

As far as the Primi's go I would rate this as one of those heading for top position. Primi now offers very good value for money and the staff are great ( on the odd occasion maybe a touch too friendly, if that is possible ).
