When we arrived at reception we had a very bizarre conversation with the owner who cheerfully informed us that ‘it hadn’t been busy so he hadn’t needed to clean our room.’ I couldn’t quite believe what I was hearing. When we got to the unit we found that he wasn't kidding. The floor was filthy and we had to sweep it ourselves – not what you expect – especially when you’re paying $135 a night. The room was advertised as ‘fully self contained’ but only has a two burner mobile gas hob, nothing else, not even a microwave. Fully self contained is therefore a misleading description for this accommodation as it is not self-contained at all. Campers in there own tents have more cooking facilities then these rooms.
The rooms are also in need of refurbishment and lack air con so get very hot.
I asked for a fan and was given one covered in dust and dead flies. It was disgusting. Needless to say we stayed for one night and then found a motel down the road for $99 that looked like a palace in comparison. We lost money by leaving early but were happy to do so.
During the time that we did stay it was also obvious that the owner had let himself into our room while we were out and opened all the windows leaving our valuables open to theft. Shame he didn't push the vacuum around while he was in there, but no.
