“Incredible hosts and a holiday-saver”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2010

After being left in the lurch (and the dark!) by the Heritage Lodge, we turned up at Lync-Haven and could not have received a warmer and more helpful welcome by Jodie. We hired a room for the night and then decided to stay for another two. Jodie and Scott were great hosts, laid-back, friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The amount of effort they are putting into bringing this place back to life is staggering. The surroundings were impressive and we even saw a cassowary there. Highly recommended. Thanks Jodie and Scott - you salvaged our holiday from a disaster.

We are a Spanish family who spent four wonderful days here in April 2009. Although I cannot remember the name of the nice marriage who owns the hotel, they made us feel like home.
The place where it is located is, as its name reflects, a haven. It is just in the middle of rainforest. We bumped into a couple of Casuarius in one of the roads close to the hotel.
Rented a five bed room with which was more than enough for our expectations, even with my mother in law, there. Room was surrounded by Cngaroos and wallabies.
They were very helpul to organise our day activities and had also a very nice dinner there.
Best part was that after dinner you could sit with them over a Bud and have a good chat there with them (and with their Cockatoo, of course).
Truly Australian Spirit. No worries!!

We visited the Daintree rainforest "where the rainforest meets the reef" hoping for a unique experience in one of the most beautiful areas in the world. We were not disappointed as Lync Haven lodge is built into the rainforest with very comfortable Bungalows spread around a very large property managed by a dinkim Aussie couple who were delightful.

There were kangaroos on the grounds and a crocodile enclosure which we were given a personal tour by the owner. There are trails through the forest which is on the lodge property and they are so expansive we actually lost our way for a while
before finding our way out.. where else could that happen ? All in all, a fantastic stay.

Stayed here after being recomended on Daintree river trip (nice& easy cruises)and were not disappointed. The rate was quite reasonable, but was a bit niggled by the staff applying a sterling conversion without my knowledge after quoting an Aus dollar rate. Unfortunately they were not the only place in Australia to try this trick.
The room was clean, large with bunk beds for the kids and a double bed behind a dividing wall, sofa and air-con. There was a fridge, kettle and milk for the hot drinks. You can park at the back of your hut. The shower/ toilet were fine behind a sliding door. At night you know you're in the rainforest......its noisy out there, bur not too loud that you can't sleep. There are quite a few trails in the grounds for the rainforest and you get a map from reception. The staff were welcoming and mentioned the animals in the enclosures behind the lodges. Each morning at 0830(?) they feed Boris the crocodile in his specially constructed cage. Afterwards you can go with the owner to the Kangaroo/Wallaby enclosure where you are given food to feed the animals and take photos with them. He explained that they are trying to expand the menagery to include more native animals. Inside the reception there is a large white Cockato, various parrots, snakes, spiders on display. In the evening after a beer at the pub up the road had a meal which was good and the kids were especially well looked after by the staff with free ice cream. In the morning theres a continental breakfast included on a buffet basis, with just toast made for you. One other place to note is the Organic Daintree ice cream establishment a few miles towards the ferry where each day 3 different ice creams from exotic fruit are prepared. The names sound bad, ie soursop, wattle, but the taste was good.
Definately recommended for a family stay to get very close to Wallabies etc and experience the Rainforest at a budget price.

We stayed at Lync-Haven for four nights, using one of the motel rooms where you can park you car right in front of the room. The motel rooms have nice views to the garden and you can see kangaroos from there, quite amazing! You can have breakfast (included in the motel rate) at the restaurant or cook yourself; we cooked dinner ourselves in the camping kitchen which is a great way of meeting other people! The staff at Lync-Haven was really friendly and very helpful. Also great are the animals, e.g. Boris the croc which they built a shelter for, you can watch the feeding and learn about him. There are also several paths which let you explore the forest around the site. The motel rooms at Lync-Haven are great if you want more comfort than with camping (or can't take tent etc. from Europe like we), and don't have the budget for the Cape Trib hotels which can be pricey. Very charming place which we want to get back to as soon as we can!
