Stayed here over the Christmas holiday. It's a cold time to visit but the quality of our stay made it more than worthwhile. Coming up the long private drive, you see this imposing house pearched at the top of a hill with great views of the rolling hills of the Borders over the river Tweed. It has a pond and great fields that would be amazing in the summer. The beatuiful hall and living room are decadently decorated but are comfortable and unpretentious, complete with a large wood burning fireplace. Yet the biggest asset lies with the hospitable hosts who offer exceedingly high quality food and accommodation. The fact that they used to run well known restaurants in the area explains the yummy food and their thoughtful nature. You really feel pampered and relaxed in the most sincere and friendly company. Sheila will go out of her way to help you find what you want, whether it is a special whiskey, antiques or cashmere scarves. This stay truly completes a wholesome Scottish Borders experience and is something you want to come back to again and again.
