“Special place visited with special friends...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

A highlight of our first visit to Norway was a private bus trip with 20 of my wife's Norwegian relatives, from Frosta to the Atlantic Road. The 450km or so round trip took us along-side salmon-filled Fjords with massive natural snow-capped mountain waterfall backdrops,
through incredibly long under-ground and under-sea tunnels, aboard several vehicle ferries and more! The Norwegian Coastline is so rugged! Many of the off-shore islands are linked by various bridges, but the most spectacular is at Atlanterhavsveien near Kristiansund, where a steep, twisting, naturally-shaped roadway winds across a short but very rough stretch of sea-scape. Returning to Trondheim via inland roads presented us with more massive snow-covered mountains, this time reaching down into very deep ravines with swift flowing rivers. The Bridge at Atlantic Road is special, but only part of the experience...
The journey to and from there was totally rewarding! A place to remember!

“Atlantic Road”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

Riding through the Norwegian countryside you finally reach the Atlantic Road and what a sight it is. Apparently the Royal Family loaned the Authority the money to build the bridge which spans numerous islands. Initially there was a toll but as soon as the money is raised for the build cost the toll come off, the Royals repaid and it is left to the Norwegians to use at their leisure. Magnificent scenery and a magnificent bridge.

“Not as exciting as promised”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

The road is very short with only two or three viewpoints that are worth a stop and only one interesting bridge. The road is hugely advertised as a top attraction and a magnificent scenic drive. The reality disappointed. Kristiansund is a small dull town, with nothing spectacular to see. Our journey was in the first days of September.

“worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

the road's worst enemy are the amazing photos taken from the air. so forget it and don't expect the "helicopter angle"... with that being said, it is a very beautiful road, on a magnificent, wind-struck coast line. the first bridge is very photogenic. avoid early morning - it is so foggy you won't see a thing. it is short, but taking the coast line road from molde through Bud instead of the quick in-land road makes the experience longer and more beautiful.

“Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Even when passing this Atlantic Road for the 4th and 5th time we are almost as excited as we were the first time. This time it was nice warm summer weather and lots of turists from the continent and all wanted to take the nicest photos.
