A highlight of our first visit to Norway was a private bus trip with 20 of my wife's Norwegian relatives, from Frosta to the Atlantic Road. The 450km or so round trip took us along-side salmon-filled Fjords with massive natural snow-capped mountain waterfall backdrops,
through incredibly long under-ground and under-sea tunnels, aboard several vehicle ferries and more! The Norwegian Coastline is so rugged! Many of the off-shore islands are linked by various bridges, but the most spectacular is at Atlanterhavsveien near Kristiansund, where a steep, twisting, naturally-shaped roadway winds across a short but very rough stretch of sea-scape. Returning to Trondheim via inland roads presented us with more massive snow-covered mountains, this time reaching down into very deep ravines with swift flowing rivers. The Bridge at Atlantic Road is special, but only part of the experience...
The journey to and from there was totally rewarding! A place to remember!
