We stayed just over two weeks ago. Luckily we did not read some of the reviews before booking or going to the Pear Tree because we may have missed out on a wonderful experience.
The staff are young but give credit to their professionalism, we found them to be exceptional, attentive, customer focussed and pleased to serve. So much so that Harry (one of our waiter's at dinner) when a party of four could not get a taxi for forty-five minutes after their meal, offered and took then back to their accommodation!! Where would you get service like this? If they didn't care, why take customer's home once they have paid?
Our room was lovely with slopping ceilings, beautiful bathroom and very clean. We slept like babies, in fact the best sleep we have had away from home ever.
The three meals we had, Sunday Lunch, Sunday Evening meal and Breakfast were devine, counld not fault. A limitied choice but we would rather that, if executed perfectly (which it was). Because of the Marco Pierre White connection we expected to pay "through the nose" but it was a delightful surprise to find that the food and drink was very reasonably priced especially considering the quality. In fact the pint of beer my husband ordered cost him less at the Pear Tree than it does from our local supermarket. Having recently paid £8.25 for just a bottle of the same beer in a London hotel, we were amazed.
Lettie who served us from behind the bar and later at dinner could not have been more welcoming. She engaged in conversation, showed a genuine interest and obviously wanted us to enjoy our stay which, "Thank you very much," we did.
This is a lovey cosy country Inn with loads of character. The food is exceptional, the staff are warm, efficient and friendly and the accommodation is very comfortable and clean. What more could you ask?
