Description: The Big Sur Roadhouse features Chef Matt Glazer’s fresh take on classic California cuisine. Hailing from New Orleans, Matt brings a unique blend of Cajun style to the bountiful California coast. In keeping with our Big Sur ethos, the seasonal menu is filled with locally sourced organic ingredients. Also, not to be missed, San Francisco designer Steve Justrich’s “homegrown modernism” has transformed the Roadhouse into a truly unique and fitting environment for dining in Big Sur. We are open all day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and small bites in between. Please stop by for coffee, a glass of wine, a snack or make a reservation for a full meal.

“Excellent Dinner & Breakfast in a great Big Sur setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2014 NEW

The Big Sur Roadhouse was located directly across the highway from Glen Oaks Big Sur which was fantastic. We had a marvelous dining experience coupled with great conversation with other diners and the staff. All were easy going and from so many different backgrounds. The Blackened Salmon with a glass of Line Shack wine and deviled eggs were excellent. The Southern Fried Chicken and biscuit with gravy was my wife's favorite.

Prior to departing Big Sur we did a very nice breakfast at the Roadhouse. Again everything was well prepared and the staff and other patrons were friendly conversationalists.

This is a new definite dining stop while in Big Sur. You will not go wrong with this dining experience either singly, with your spouse or lover, or a small group.

“No view, but very good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2014

We greatly enjoyed our dinner at this Cajun-inspired new eatery, part of the trendy Glen Oaks Big Sur hotel. It is next to Hwy 1 (PCH), and has no view. But it has a nice outdoor patio and a soothing, light-colored and very modern interior dining room. Staff was very low key but good. Almost all the food was excellent, and can highly recommend the fried chicken, the blackened fish po' boy (and blackened fish entree). Salads were good, too, though I thought slightly less interesting. We didn't try any meat or desserts.

“A Gem in the Wilderness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2014

Be careful or you will miss it. West side of the highway, bright new sign across the street from the gas station. This was an accidental find as we were referred by the café across the highway because they had run out of propane. Excellent , excellent food. The references to poor service had to be a wait to be seated but I have never seen one waitress work so fast as I did that morning. One diner had the bacon (thick), eggs(3) and wheat toast (thick). Good value for your money in a calming atmosphere. A good respite from the rigors of driving one of the best roads on the planet.

“Whoa!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014

This was an unexpected treasure!! We made it for lunch with minutes to spare!! We were so lucky!! Huge sandwiches !! Stuffed with yummy meats it was a two handed meal!! Espresso over vanilla ice cream was the crowning end to a delicious meal! Our waiter, who is also a student from Monterey, was fantastic! Friendly, helpful, fast and fun!! Great find!!

“Ok food, disappointing service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2014

It looks so welcoming and the menu is southern food---a fun surprise for Big Sur---the service was slow slow slow---the food was ok--so all in all, not bad but not above average.
