Description: The Big Sur Roadhouse features Chef Matt Glazer’s fresh take on classic California cuisine. Hailing from New Orleans, Matt brings a unique blend of Cajun style to the bountiful California coast. In keeping with our Big Sur ethos, the seasonal menu is filled with locally sourced organic ingredients. Also, not to be missed, San Francisco designer Steve Justrich’s “homegrown modernism” has transformed the Roadhouse into a truly unique and fitting environment for dining in Big Sur. We are open all day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and small bites in between. Please stop by for coffee, a glass of wine, a snack or make a reservation for a full meal.

“Love this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014 NEW

After seeing the Roadhouse featured on a local "foodie" show, we decided to take a run down Highway 1 and check it out. A beautiful scenic drive put us there about lunch time. A glass of Prosecca, some New Orleans beer and giant portions of very tasty meals left us ready for a nap. Luckily there is a nice comfy outdoor seating area that happened to be vacant after we finished our meal so we sat there and chilled for a bit in the sun and enjoyed the quiet of Big Sur looking up at the trees. Super friendly staff who were helpful in choosing what to try. They were all knowledgeable about the menu and the area. A great day trip but be warned: The macaroni and cheese appetizer is very filling so if you have that, order a smaller meal unless you are going to take a doggy bag home with you.

“Do not miss this gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014 NEW

My family took a day trip to Big Sur on July 23, 2014. After checking recommended tripadvisor.com restaurants we decided to eat a late lunch at the Big Sur Roadhouse, on the way to Pfeifer Beach (awesome!). We were not disappointed!

The restaurant has a great vibe and feel to it. Soft jazz music played in the background. The staff was attentive, yet laid back. Our server, Amanecer(?) was great!

My son had the Biscuits N Chicken ($12), daughter had the Gumbo Bowl ($12), wife had the Turkey Po Boy ($10) and I had the Hot Roast Beef Po Boy ($12). The Gumbo was spicy and delicious but required some extra bread for my daughter to handle the spice. My son devoured his meal. However, the highlights were the Po Boys. OMG. Hot. Messy. Juicy. Delicious!! The home made chips were very tasty too. Given the opportunity, I would eat a Big Sur Roadhouse Po Boy every day, they were that good!

Bottom line: Loved the atmosphere! Loved the food! Would return in a heartbeat!

“Fresh Salmon cooked to perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014 NEW

This chef seems to make the extra effort to always have the freshest seafood --- and my daughter and I had the privilege of having his fresh Monterey Bay Salmon. It was 'melt in your mouth' delicious. Service and ambiance were excellent also. If you're a seafood eater you'll love this place.

“Perfect Big Sur dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014 NEW

Came here for dinner on the recommendation of the staff at Riverside Campground where we were staying. We absolutely loved it. Wonderful locally-sourced food, delicious wine, and a lovely, glowing, warm ambiance- perfect for Big Sur. It was our best dining experience in 8 days of traveling around California. Our server was knowledgable and enthusiastic, giving us generous tastes of 3 different bottles of wine to allow us to select the one we liked best. We finished the evening sharing a decadent dessert by the fire pit before strolling home to our cabin in the woods. A real highlight of our trip.

“Best food in Big Sur”

We had lunch and dinner here - the best we had in our 4 day trip. Service was impeccable as well. Try the local salmon, if in season
