We were a bit hesitant to stay with small children at Fernwood based on previous reviews (noise, partying etc.), but were pleasantly surprised. We found the campground to be very well supervised and encountered no noise issues whatsoever. Unless of course you consider the serenity of the flowing river as a noise issue. Our spot #14 was right next to the river and nearby restrooms. The showers were a bit small, but delivered hot water well enough. The restrooms were regularly cleaned and always pleasant. Some sites seemed a bit small for the bigger RV's but our tent trailer fit perfectly. Grocery store on site offers video rentals. Restraurant is very pricey. Plan to utilize the hiking trails - make a point to head towards Pfeiffer State Campground. The trek up to Buzzards Roost was not appropriate for small childrent, but for adults it is well worth all the sweat! The Big Sur area is so BEAUTIFUL!!!
