“Crashing Waves”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Small but nice, dog friendly. $5 per car. The purple sand was more like dusty mauve mixed in with normal sand. I did like that the sand was course enough to not stick to everything.

“Our Favorite Views on Hwy 1”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

The views of the ocean here are so fabulous we stopped twice while driving Hwy 1 to take it all in. It would be hard to decide which side view from the house site is best as both are glorious. I could look at the waterfall pouring into the ocean for hours. It is interesting to read about the rock/sand slide, see before and after photos, and the results in front of you. Since we had camped out at a state park night before did not have to pay again for parking. We enjoying birding and got our first look at California Condors soaring above the cliffs here plus many other birds to see such as Anna's hummingbirds. Sorry the longer hike is closed for work on path.

“AWESOME!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

If any of you read my previous reviews, you will know that I was in this area for a wedding near Carmel. We stayed in Carmel but had the opportunity to really explore Big Sur. The Pfeiffer Big State Beach is breathtakingly beautiful. The jagged cliffs and the long walkable beach are unforgettable. This is a not miss in Big Sur but just to note they only let a certain amount of cars in at a time, so please make time for your visit.
FYI-not to be a downer but make sure you go to the bathroom before because the smell from the bathroom was so unbearable that I held it in.

“Stunning views, however LONG walk.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Loved the view, parked along the side road and took pictures. There was a $10.00 charge to park and then a 1/2 mile hike to the rocky shore. Beautiful, but not an easy walk for my husband.
Great spot for pictures and we took a bunch.

“Definitely go, but drive carefully”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

wecarefully we were amazed by the beach, rock formations, etc. But be careful driving. the road is narrow. We hit a jagged rock and got a flat tire. No fun to change the tire on a one-lane road! we were in a rental car and had to drive to Monterey airport (with a donut spare tire) to get a new rental. we lost a half-day of sightseeing.
