I with a lot of folks here who wish there was a 4.5 star option on the reviews. Because that isn't an option, I rounded it up. Regardless... My wife and I spent four wonderful nights and five days at Zoetry. The quality of the staff and the level of service at every level was the highest that I have ever encountered. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home. It truly is a remarkable place. We will return.
Was everything perfect? No. As previous reviewers had noted, there can be some party quirks with the plumbing in the rooms. The wifi at the resort can be spotty at times. The ocean off the beach is not crystal clear like at some other resort areas in the Caribbean. Additionally, the dinner options can be a bit uneven, however, as far as all-inclusives go, the food was much better than expected. We didn't use the Spa, so I can't really comment on that portion of the resort.
Breakfast was absolutely fantastic everyday. Even though it may sound like an odd choice, I totally recommend the Oaxacan beef tamales for breakfast. They were so good that I wish that they had been an option at lunch. You can't have everything, I suppose. As far as the more traditional options go, the thin yogurt parfaits were really tasty. The french toast was a crowd pleaser as well. On a side note, if you ask for a side order of bacon with your breakfast, it will be enough to feed two or more people. They will bring out freshly made pastries to you at breakfast no matter what you order. These are good, as are the freshly made rolls and bread selections that they offer you at dinner.
The catch of the day at the Grill at lunch is fantastic at lunch, if possibly a bit too large to eat at times depending on what the catch of the day happened to be. The tortilla soup at Kaax is pretty tasty as well.
You do not have to purchase wine from the cellar with your dinner as they have perfectly acceptable house wines that are included in the general package, however, if you do, the sommelier did know what he was talking about. He gave us multiple good options in a variety of price ranges.By the same token, on another night, we just did cocktails from the bar with the meal and they were very good as well.
The pool area isn't huge, but my wife and I never had an issue getting a seat there if we wanted one. In general, though, we preferred to lounge in a covered bed on the beach. There is plenty of space to spread out wherever you want to be considering that there is only 90 rooms at the resort.
We had a room on the third floor about halfway down the complex. The room pictures on the website are mostly accurate. Perhaps due to the winds in the area during the large portion of our stay, we didn't run into some of the mosquito issue that others have, but I don't doubt the veracity of those reports. Our king bed was relatively firm, but that is the style of mattress that my wife and I prefer. The mini-fridge wasn't re-stocked every day, but it was refilled when it started to get low on anything in particular. The shower in our room could be a bit of an adventure if you tried to use all of the shower heads at once. If you were just using the main shower head, however, it was more than acceptable.
If you are looking for a very laid back, relaxing vacation and want to experience exceptional service in place where you can escape from the rest of the world, I would highly recommend Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita.
