“The best hotel staff I have ever encountered...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2012

I with a lot of folks here who wish there was a 4.5 star option on the reviews. Because that isn't an option, I rounded it up. Regardless... My wife and I spent four wonderful nights and five days at Zoetry. The quality of the staff and the level of service at every level was the highest that I have ever encountered. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home. It truly is a remarkable place. We will return.

Was everything perfect? No. As previous reviewers had noted, there can be some party quirks with the plumbing in the rooms. The wifi at the resort can be spotty at times. The ocean off the beach is not crystal clear like at some other resort areas in the Caribbean. Additionally, the dinner options can be a bit uneven, however, as far as all-inclusives go, the food was much better than expected. We didn't use the Spa, so I can't really comment on that portion of the resort.

Breakfast was absolutely fantastic everyday. Even though it may sound like an odd choice, I totally recommend the Oaxacan beef tamales for breakfast. They were so good that I wish that they had been an option at lunch. You can't have everything, I suppose. As far as the more traditional options go, the thin yogurt parfaits were really tasty. The french toast was a crowd pleaser as well. On a side note, if you ask for a side order of bacon with your breakfast, it will be enough to feed two or more people. They will bring out freshly made pastries to you at breakfast no matter what you order. These are good, as are the freshly made rolls and bread selections that they offer you at dinner.

The catch of the day at the Grill at lunch is fantastic at lunch, if possibly a bit too large to eat at times depending on what the catch of the day happened to be. The tortilla soup at Kaax is pretty tasty as well.

You do not have to purchase wine from the cellar with your dinner as they have perfectly acceptable house wines that are included in the general package, however, if you do, the sommelier did know what he was talking about. He gave us multiple good options in a variety of price ranges.By the same token, on another night, we just did cocktails from the bar with the meal and they were very good as well.

The pool area isn't huge, but my wife and I never had an issue getting a seat there if we wanted one. In general, though, we preferred to lounge in a covered bed on the beach. There is plenty of space to spread out wherever you want to be considering that there is only 90 rooms at the resort.

We had a room on the third floor about halfway down the complex. The room pictures on the website are mostly accurate. Perhaps due to the winds in the area during the large portion of our stay, we didn't run into some of the mosquito issue that others have, but I don't doubt the veracity of those reports. Our king bed was relatively firm, but that is the style of mattress that my wife and I prefer. The mini-fridge wasn't re-stocked every day, but it was refilled when it started to get low on anything in particular. The shower in our room could be a bit of an adventure if you tried to use all of the shower heads at once. If you were just using the main shower head, however, it was more than acceptable.

If you are looking for a very laid back, relaxing vacation and want to experience exceptional service in place where you can escape from the rest of the world, I would highly recommend Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita.

“Where time passes too quickly...”

It has been less than two weeks since my wife and I vacationed at this fantastic resort, so I thought I'd review before I forgot the experience - no chance.
From check in to check out this place knows how to pamper you. We actually stayed in the hotel zone a couple nights before our stay at Zoetry, and Zuko arranged to have us picked up just as we checked out of our hotel, instead of at the airport. A cool bottle of bubbly and a very friendly driver made for a pleasant trip to Zoetry. We had stayed at several Secrets and Excellence resorts in this area before, and this place is definitely a few notches up.
We stayed in one of the closer buildings to the pool, in the Sariska ( I probably spelled it wrong) suite, which was on the first floor with a plunge pool. A bottle of bubbly in the room in a ice bucket, bottle of tequila with limes, salt and shot glasses, fridge full of beer, what else does one need?
There are just too many great people there too remember to thank, but I'll try:
Eric - brought and setup our beach chairs and table each and every morning under the coconut trees, along with cool cocktails of our choice.
Francesco - great service at breakfast and lunch at Kaax, even spoke some Italian
Carlito - in he Hippo bar, always tried to get our drinks they way we wanted
Edgar - great server for dinner at Kaax
Canoan servers especially Arturo - all great, as well as the mariachi guys - very good guitarists.
The grounds are impeccible, and full of wildlife, including inumerable iguanas, peacocks ( walk past my pool each morning) pelicans, cormorants, macaws and other songbirds.
We were lucky with the weather, except for one day with an afternoon storm and the breeze out of the west, as we always had a nice breeze off the sea and not a single mosquito.
The beach sand is the finest I've found in Mexico, even softer on the feet than Maroma beach, if possible, and much better than the hotel zone. The water was very clear and having such a short ride to a snorkel spot is nice. The catamaran cruise was very nice, but it ends before the sun sets. Alfonso was nice enough to get us onto the cruise since we missed our scheduled ride due to the storm the day before.
The spa is very nice, and Gabriella provided an exquisite deep massage for me.
The fact that you can get fresh sushi and ceviche each and every day for lunch is outstanding.
We tried to stick to the more healthy offerings, and they even put the nutritional info on the menus, but sometimes we would stray.
The memorable dinner items from Canoan included the rack of lamb ( we had it three times) the clam chowder ( closer to a seafood bisque and delicious) and flaming bananas and ice cream. We also enjoyed fantastic fresh fish every day at lunch and dinner, including whole snapper, grouper and tuna.
The only negative I can recall was the pillows were a bit hard and few, and the room had a faint musty smell from the ventilation ( air worked great though) but the friendly gals in the gift shop gave us all the incense we could want, which actually was very nice.
Would I go to Zoetry Bonita Pariaiso again? In a heartbeat.

Room Tip: This property stretches out along the beach and the grounds are beautiful, go and explore.

“Very Poor”

We stayed at this place last September and had such high expectations. Things which are now expected at high end all inclusive resorts are just lacking here. Mini Bar very basic and no snacks or liquor (not like Le Blanc)', very short room service menu, the £200 resort credit is just a time share promo, like £10 off decent wine costing up to £100. (At Le Blanc, we drank Moët and Chandon using entirely resort credits). The room fruit bowl was two apples and Champagne was cheap Sparkling Wine, not Champagne. The food was just not good for us, small portions in the guise of Healthy, err, wake up, we are on Holiday.. There was an incident when the night of our Wedding Anniversary, my husband and I went to the signature Restuarant .. Wanting to spend serious money on Wine and proper Champagne and we were turned away, because he had £500 pressed Versace Jeans on with Versace Loafers and a Versace pressed long sleave shirt.. There was no compromise, so our night was in ruins, I was in tears when I complained at the front desk and was told the management would get back to me, but of course, they didn't. With a bed as hard as rock and massive Cockroaches in the room, I could go on and on, but there it is. When we checked out, i think they were glad to see the backs of us and we went to stay at Le Blanc in Cancun, a truly amazing paradise and we are gong back there in March

“Let down...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2012

My husband and I have been wanting to try this resort for a while. We have stayed at LeBlanc for several years and have always been happy. We triend the Royal Hideaway and were disappointed. We ventured away to try Zoetry on advice from friends, and positive reviews. There was nothing that was necessarily bad about the hotel, but for the price point many service levels were not there. The room was amazing. We stayed in Ajmer. It was impossible to have consistent service from waitstaff. We did tip, but we found the dollar amounts had to be increased each day to continue good service. Housekeeping was inconsistent, but the room always clean. However, dirty dishes would be left outside our room for entire days by the housekeeping staff. The issue was number of towels, etc. Just small items, like those mentioned, make it difficult to recommend or return.
The beach is groomed everyday, but upon getting into the water there is only 5-7 feet of sand before you are in a swell of mud. This is not the hotels fault, but a guest who wants to hang out in the water should be aware. It is a great place to find shells however due to the terrain mix.

“Quiet, Beautiful, Great Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

The pick up in the Navigator with champagne, fruit and chocolate was a great welcome. We really enjoyed having the private transportation.
We were in Tiro with a plunge pool and right on the beach. Beautiful clean room. They also cleaned our pool. In fact this was the cleanest resort in which I have stayed. (We have stayed in many including Secrets and Sandals.)
The food was the best I have had outside the US. The morning pastries are the best I have eaten anywhere. I also enjoyed the smoked marlin appetizer and the steamed shrimp and scallops for lunch at Kaax. The Foie Gras appetizer at Conoa was outstanding.

No bugs. I had one bug bite and although I took "OFF" I never used it.

Beautiful birds all around the resort.

Loved the spa. I had Gabriella for an 80 minute massage and it was fantastic. I had another Gabriella for an 80 minute facial and it was also fantastic. I would have gone back for more had I had the time. I loved this spa.

We also had the best service -we could not have asked for anything more. We want to give a special thanks to...

Antonio -Pool side
Frederico-Pool side
Miguel-Pool side
Our chairs were always ready in the morning. The checked on us frequently and one morning Antonio brought me coffee because he had seen me drinking a cup the morning before. Doesn't get any better than this.

Nelson and Rodufo at Caona were great!

Jesus at Kaax took great care of us for breakfast and lunch. The hostess at Kaax was terrific too.

Alex at Chiringuito made sure our lunch was perfect and prompt. He always checked to see if everything was all right anytime he saw us in the resort.

Alexjandro at the Hippo bar in the evening always made us feel welcome and waited on us quickly and with a super smile.

Alex-pool aerobics made this activity fun and made all feel included and welcome. Really great guy.

Miquel the sommelier gave an excellent lecture during the wine tasting in the piano bar and always checked on us to see if we wanted any special wine. Go to the wine tasting it is a lot of fun.

Also a special thanks to Allen for finding the beach bag that I wanted. He went way beyond to do this for me.

Take the catamaran it is a nice afternoon activity.

Although there were 2 children at the resort you never heard them. They were extremely well behaved. I do have a little advice-don't bring children to this resort. There is absolutely nothing for them to do.

A note to Zoetry-it would be great if you improved the quality of your house wines.

Room Tip: I really liked having a plunge pool with my room just steps from the ocean.
