“Absolutely perfect honeymoon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2011

We spent 7 nights at Zoetry Paraiso for our honeymoon (November 27-December 4) and it was AMAZING! Probably like you, we looked at many different properties in different locations but kept finding ourselves coming back to this one. We carefully read through all of the reviews and booked our week-long stay about four months in advance. We kept checking the reviews prior to our trip, were thrilled with most, picked up valuable insight from others. There are so few negative reviews and there is a very good reason for that: this resort is as close to perfect as you can get. We whole-heartedly recommend Zoetry and all it has to offer to anyone looking for an elegant, romantic and truly relaxing vacation.

First and foremost, this is an absolutely beautiful hotel – the layout, the décor, the lighting the views – beautiful! (Check out our photos if you can.) Our suite was just gorgeous and looked exactly as presented in the brochure and on the Web site. These are not typical hotel rooms – they are quite large with beautiful décor. We stayed in Petra (rooms have names, not numbers) with a king-size bed, amazing bathroom replete with Bvlgari products, plunge pool, ocean front suite – highly recommend this room! The room was not only beautiful, but it smelled GREAT - we loved it! Housekeeping-wise, our room was always clean, plenty of towels, great robes, beautiful fresh flowers, and we loved that they kept refreshing our daily tequila and supplies related thereto. We got the honeymoon package (highly recommend this) and the night they decorated our room with rose petals and drew the scented bath was just incredible.

Second – the food was great. We found ample selections and unique creations that easily held our interest through 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, various snacks, and 7 dinners. We do not generally opt for the all inclusive but we did so here and were really pleased. We never found ourselves hungry or wanting. Better yet, there wasn’t a buffet or mass-produced meal in sight. As you have read or will read in the other reviews, there are three restaurants. La Canoa is the more formal restaurant – has somewhat of a dress code (no jeans or open-toed shoes for men.) We ate in La Canoa 5 of our 7 nights and did our best to try everything. They have meat and vegetarian dishes and we really liked them all, especially the lamb – definitely try it! We’d have breakfast at Kaax (offer Mexican and American options – both really good, as well as lighter fare like fruit, yogurt, granola, but the Mexican options were our favorite.) We also enjoyed a few dinners and lunches at Kaax (the beef carpaccio and sea bass carpaccio appetizers are wonderful.) For most of our lunches we usually ate at their outdoor grill, also with a number of options, but we must have had the chips, salsa, beans, and the most delicious guacamole ever every single day.

Drinks – top shelf and plentiful. Again, we never wanted for anything, either in the restaurants, at the pool, at the beach, in our room, etc. We did end up spending a lot of time at the pool, mostly because it is so beautiful, and the pool service was outstanding. We didn’t spend much time on the beach – the temperature averaged about 78 degrees (f) and the water was cold during our stay, but they do have these great cabana beds and of course, great service, laying out the towels, bringing drinks and food to you whenever you like. They have a greatl outdoor bar where we spent a good amount of time – beautiful décor, beautiful view, amazing lighting at night, fantastic service. It never felt crowded or loud – we loved it!

The grounds are beautifully maintained. It’s near impossible to find a place that isn’t created for peace or relaxation! Amenities wise, the spa is great – from the salt water pool, to the steam, sauna, and jacuzzi, massages, hair salon and other spa services – we enjoyed it all just about every day of our stay. We took advantage of some of the things that Zoetry offered: private catamaran ride, tour of Chitzen-Itza, cigar rolling, tequila tasting, the spa treatments, private dinner on their beautiful pier. We also had a Mayan wedding ceremony which was really fun and memorable! We had professional photos taken that truly captured how happy we were to be together in this picture-perfect paradise.

Last but certainly not least (and you will read this throughout these reviews) what really makes this resort so special is the staff. They are wonderful! Friendly, professional, accommodating – they really made this the perfect honeymoon for us. If we didn’t have something, they got it for us and did so quickly. If we wanted something, they made sure we received it. Never did we feel anything but special – it was great. Many thanks to all of the staff– particularly Helia – who coordinated our Mayan wedding ceremony, our cake, dinner on the pier, and the photographer -- she did a really excellent job; Abe the concierge who arranged our trip to Chitzen-Itza and really made sure our stay was everything we wanted it to be -- and all of the wait staff, particularly Miguel by the pool and Arturo at La Canoa. Thank you all!

Again, we were there for 7 nights and were treated so well we hated to leave! We both have busy careers and four children between us so were truly lucky to get a full week away together. We do plan to go back at some point as it was an absolutely perfect get-away for us. So – bottom line – if you are looking at Zoetry for your honeymoon or getaway and you are looking for some place really special, high-end and designed for romance without the night-club feel, Zoetry Paraiso is the place. We can’t find enough good things to say about this resort! If you have any questions, feel free to contact us - thanks!

We are not avid travelers, but wanted to do something special to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We originally wanted to go to Hawaii, but wanted an all inclusive. While doing searches for all inclusive resorts, I came across Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita. Everything I read about it sounded perfect and it was everything we hoped for and so much more! The food was delicious works of art, drinks were plenty, rooms absolutely gorgeous, housekeeping diligent, the views spectacular, but what made it extra special are all the wonderful people who work at this resort! They were always smiling, kind, happy to help in any way they could in a timely manner. It was such a pleasure to meet Zuko, Francisco who serves in the evening and Alex who serves in the morning and afternoons at Kaax, Maximo who drove us to the resort, Antonio at Hippo Bar, and Eddie and Eric at the grill. We truly were in paradise. Our time there was way too short. We've been home since December 9th and we still miss it so much. We are hoping to return to this fabulous resort for our 25th anniversary, but I don't know how I can wait that long!!!!

We just returned from the best vacation my wife and I ever had! The Zoetry Paraiso is the most relaxing, lovely, friendly resort we have ever been to. It is very beautiful, luxurious, and the service is outstanding. The beach is large and lovely. It isn't crowded, which we loved. The ocean is a bit murky, but it is swimmable. You can walk for quite sometime down either direction... very romantic! In our 2 weeks we didn't get bored at all. We thought there was quite alot to do if you wanted. (ex. snorkeling, scuba, fishing, catamaran cruises, shopping excursions, cab rides to Puerto Morelos, wine tasting, tequila tasting, Tezmezcal, spa services, cooking classes, Spanish class, cigar rolling, volleyball, bocce ball, horseshoes...) It is what you make of it, and we loved every minute. The spa is wonderful, best facials and massages. The pool is a very nice size, and is heated. There an ample amount of lounge chairs/beds available around the pool, and at the beach. We have been going to different resorts located in Riviera Maya, and decided hands down that we really love the smaller boutique resort atmosphere that the Zoetry exudes. Apart from all of the aesthetics of the resort, our favorite amentity was the wonderful, HARDWORKING, men and women who took such great care of us. I really think we made some life-long friendships..... BARTENDERS - Danny & Jimmy (absolutely great people), Carlos, Alexander, Antonio, and Orlando... POOL/BEACH SERVICE - Eric & Pepe (the best), Antonio, Miguel, and Frederico... KAAX RESTAURANT (our fave) - Irra, Raul, Cesar, Eric, Jorge, Chewy, Umberto, and Tanya... THE GRILL - Adrien, Tomas, and the fabulous cooks (they are so wonderful!)... CLEANING STAFF - Jessica and Ava... SPA - Jessica, Lulu, Gabriela, and Manuel... Food and Beverage Manager (can't remember his name, but he was great!).... Hippo Bar/pool/beach Manager - Luis (fantastic!).... And last but not least - MARINA LA BONITA - Alfonso... Every one of these beautiful people made an ordinary vacation ABSOLUTE HEAVEN!!! We call them our friends... it was sooooo hard to leave them all. They all made us feel like part of their family!!! Love you guys...... Jonny Walker & Lisa

PS. I really hope all of these extraordinary people get recognized in some way for making this the best resort in Mexico.... and a copy of this review!!!

Wow...great service, great food, very relaxing! Just what the doctor ordered for us. The staff was great and prompt and even remembered our names as well as our drinks for the pool/beach. We relaxed and felt guilty for asking for things, but by the last couple of days they made it clear they are here to help us enjoy our vacation!
I recommend room service in the morning for breakfast out on your patio with coffee! The French toast is amazing! Fruit plate fresh with honey...eggs were so/so.
Then head to pool or beach and get your chairs (you will need to do this early because some of the old vultures get out there and mark their chairs early and then leave them empty for most of the day).
Lunch get the Mexican pizza...AWESOME!
I also recommend the lemonada (I added some rum to mine) fresh squeezed lemonade!
For dinner we had some ok meals two nights and the rest of the time we had great dinners. The steak at 'dressier' restaurant was some of the best I have ever had. I asked them to include some shrimp for a little surf & turf and they readily obliged.
As for tipping, we didn't do that a lot unless we had room service and we also tipped Pepe on the beach for getting us our chairs and drinks. A little tip goes a long way!
I would avoid the spa, I felt like I was being sold a used car when trying to get information on the spa so I was immediately turned off. And also when I was told my $200 coupon could not be used at one time towards the spa or boutique, I was a little angered by this, but the relaxing area and good service everywhere else made up for it.
Make sure you sign up for the cruise and activities as soon as you know what you want to do...it gets booked up quickly.

The garden staff were always out picking up and trimming and making the place look amazing and tropical.

If I had to say anything negative about the resort besides the spa 'used car' feel it would be that we had a large number of children there our last 2 days which took away from the relaxing atmosphere and enjoyment. Also, when we checked in the young lady showing us around spoke way too quick to understand. Oh and the beds are a little hard.

Other than those things...GREAT PLACE! I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: all rooms are great...try and get towards the end of the resort for privacy and a great view!

Bix a bel,
For the second year we spent a week at Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita in Cancun, Mexico. We don't normally repeat vacation locations as there are so many places in the world but this place is worth at least two trips.

During the quick trip from the airport you can shake off all the travel dust with a glass of champagne offered to you by the best chauffeurs! Checking in at your room gets the vacation going on the right foot.

Tough decision - head for the beach, pool, spa or a bite to eat. We opted for the pool and were greeted by Miguel who kindly remembered us from our previous visit. Throughout your stay both he and Antonio will make your pool side visits a treat!

Meals at any of the restaurants are wonderful. Don't hesitate to ask questions about the menu or be afraid to try something new. Just relax and expect delicious food served at a pace that is conducive to conversation. Cesar, Francisco, Tonya and Rafael will take great care of you at Kaax!

Two things that you won't want to miss - Be certain to visit Alfonso at the Marina and take the snorkeling trip. There are more fish than you can imagine. The boat trip is less than 10 minutes and they will be certain all your gear works properly. Ambrorsio will guide you and be certain you see all the reef has to offer.

The other don't miss is the Thalasso Center and Spa. Ask for Lulu and you will be treated like royalty. If you have never been to spa, don't feel intimidated just go in and ask for the welcome tour and you will discover the center of Zoetry's tranquility.

Room service is a blessing especially if you enjoy early morning coffee on your private porch with a view of the ocean, in a plush rope!

There is so much to say about Zoetry but for sure it is the people who make this a wonderful place. It is every bit as beautiful as the photos!

Room Tip: We stayed on the far end of the resort b/c we prefer the quiet and less coming and going.

This was our 11th time in the riviera maya, so we are not newbies. We have stayed at the Spa and Moon Palace, the El Dorado Royale, Casitas, and Maroma, and the Excellence Playa Mujeres. This hotel is most comparable to the El Dorado Maroma (EDM). It is similar in size, luxury, service, ambiance, etc. Both of them are for people who want to relax.
My comments for the Zoetry specifically are the following: The arrival experience is like no other hotel in the area and is a huge bonus after a flight and immigration. The check-in is faster than any other hotel. The rooms are by far nicer and larger than any hotel. Room service is quick but the menu is on the smaller side. However, we ordered something off the menu and got it every time. The beach is nice and not busy at all. The waiters do a great job. Btw you are in Mexico not LA or NYC so be patient and relax. They serve lunch on the beach, pool and in 2 restaurants so you have a good choice for lunch. I highly recommend the cevice and the tuna pita pockets. The highlight for me was the heated pools. We have stayed this time of year in other resorts and you cannot go in the pool bc it is so cold. Not at the Zoetry the pools are heated to a lovely temperature. Entertainment is very minimal and my husband who likes volleyball was disappointed in that. So we signed up for our scuba certification and Bob, the instructor, did an awesome job. The free catamaran sail in the evening is nice but be there on time or you get a spot in the back. I went on a walk to the sister hotel Silversands which I highly recommend. I do not recommend going there for dinner which is allowed bc the Zoetry is the highest level in the AM chain. The food in the Zoetry is a 100 times better so why leave. Dinner was delicious every single time. I only have one complaint and this is probably the only one I had with the Zoetry and that is the variety. In the beginning the 2 restaurants had totally different menus but the last few nights the focus was on steak and prime rib. I would have loved to see an Italian, Asian or other themed night in Kaax and leave the steak nights for the chiringuito. The food in the Canoa was great, try the fois gras. Excellente.
To finish my review, I want to talk about our horrible start. My parents travelled with us and got the ground floor plunge pool room ( I recommend to not get this in the winter, they never used it). They arrived in the lovely Porto fino room. My dad put his laptop in the safe and the safe closed while he turned around and blocked. It took hours to open it. Then after that was solved my mom took a bath. When she drained the tub, all the water ran into their bathroom and room, flooding it. My mom immediately got out the tub and got an electric shock. My dad of course quite upset called the front desk. The maid came immediately but the front desk took a while to show interest. Once they realized how bad it was they got into action. My parents got a new room and apologies almost every day. Since the rest of the vacation was so wonderful, we soon forgot about this horrible start. My mom is ok and their other room was great. We had a 3rd floor room and it was great. This could have happened anywhere and we are grown up to realize that.
Some comments on other criticisms left about the Zoetry:
- bugs: the riviera maya is a giant swamp. Stay home if you are afraid of a musquito. I must say that the Zoetry has done an excellent job in eradicating most bugs in comparison w other hotels
- rocks in beach water: you are on a reef. What do you think a reef is made out of? The beach is very sandy compared to most of te riviera.
- service speed: you are in mexico, relax. Again it is not going to be better anywhere else.
- front desk rip offs: we have had this happen at every single resort. I recommend to check in w the resort before you go there and avoid miscommunications.

Final note: the Zoetry is not perfect but no resort is. But it comes pretty close to it.
