Cuisines: Seafood
Description: Don't be fooled by the shabby, palapa entrance. Beyond is a large, open air restaurant with gravel floor. Great botanas including a killer pumpkin seed dip. Ate terrific local fish prepared 'al diablo' - spicy but not 'habanero hot'. Served with tasty rice and avocado. Lobsters were also on offer. Mix of locals and visiting divers. Lots of space and keen juke box - didn't see any children but would have lots of space for them to run around. Great local restaurant.

“Very friendly, very good food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

We had a lovely time at La Pepita! The entire staff, it seemed, wanted to find a way to make our meal special, and we felt very pampered.

We selected a red snapper (even though the fresh lobster tails looked amazing!) which was simply grilled as we asked. The meat was tender, but not mushy, and quite tasty!

I has the mixed Ceviche as an appetizer. It was chock full of fresh seafood of all kinds, in a tasty marinade. It was such a large portion, I took home enough to put in tortillas (which the packaged for me to take) for lunch the next day.

By far, the best (of three) places we ate at in PM, and worth the stop!

“Best restaurant in town!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

The food is amazing with generous portions, delicious margaritas, and our waiter Walter (we always ask for him) is the best waiter in all of Puerto Morelos!!!!

“No idea how to cook a lobster”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

My wife and I decided to splurge and ordered a rather expensive lobster tail to split, what came out was simply an atrocity. It was completely overcooked, nearly impossible to pull apart using folks alone. A waste of pesos; would not recommend.

“great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

We just stopped by for one drink on our way back to the hotel. Service was great. Complimentary chips, salsa, dips and veggies were delicious. Too bad we had already had a late lunch. Again, service was great.

“Very rude waiter”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014 via mobile

We went there in the late afternoon for a smite bite to eat. While we were placing our order, a whole fried fish, the waiter, a guy with a scarf over his head, thought this was too little. He thought we needed two fishes. We said it was enough because we were not really hungry. He then took off before we could finish our order. Later we could tackle him and try to finish our order... But something was clearly wrong. Later we got our fish, which was ok and our side order of french fries. The fries were al least an hour old and tasted awefull. We just got one spoon to eat. After trying to get attention for 5 minutes we just started to eat our fish ( with cold rice) with our spoon. We asked the bill, and the fish had suddenly become 25 pesos more expensive. Ok the total was a 190 pesos. So we gave him 200 and he could keep the rest. The waitor was very insulted for getting only 10 pesos. He then started to make complaints to us, that we were bad tippers, etcetera...We tried to say that the service had room for improvement, but he wouldn't listen. And first tried to give the 10 pesos back, but when i wanted to take it back because of his reaction he ran off, insulting us....
After having traveled for 4 months from panama to mexico, and saw a lot of restaurants this was by far the worst service we had...
Food ok, service bad!
