“Best Vacation Hands Down”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

My wife and I just returned from Desire Pearl (June 30 - July 7). Hands down it was the best vacation we have ever taken together as a couple (26 years married). This was the first time we had ever booked at a nudist/lifestyle resort. We did a lot of research on-line regarding all the various options we had. We read all of the reviews here on Desire Pearl, which helped us decide to book there. It was absolutely the best decision. We are in our 40's almost empty nesters and reengaging in our life as a couple not "raising" kids any more. It was very much a honeymoon.

Desire Pearl is a beautiful secluded and highly erotic place to be. We are not active life-styler's per se; although we have had some experiences with friends of ours over the years. In our twenties we use to nude sun bath at nudist beaches, but had not really since then. From the moment we walked into the Lobby at Desire Pearl, we were welcomed and made to feel at home. As a matter of fact, one evening, my wife decided to bring a snack back to the room from dinner, and asked if she could do so. The Aphrodite Restaurant host (Rocky) smiled and said to her that this was her home. That was just great!

Desire Pearl is immaculate and very clean. They are continuing to We decided to up-grade to a Penthouse from a Master Suite, and it was well worth it. If you can afford to do so - do it!

The food was great, well prepared and presented. My wife has a few food allergies and had no problems what so ever. They accommodated her every request with zeal.

At Desire Pearl there is EVERY Body type imaginable - no one will feel self conscious. The beach, the pool and jacuzzi every day was a blast with all kinds of activities. The Foam Party on Saturday was an absolute blast. If you want to see a bunch of adults turn into kids, fill the pool with foam and play fun music...although hands do roam, which is fun too! We laughed so hard.

We met more wonderful people from every walk of life and created some new friendships...being naked removes all pretension. Conversations just seemed more real and genuine. As far as the lifestyle aspect goes, you can do as much or as little as you would like. There is no pressure what-so-ever. If you do not want to see sexual activities then avoid the jacuzzi after 4:30 p.m. when the pool bar closes...things tend to begin then and really heat up there after leaving the Disco in the early hours of the morning. The Playroom is off the Disco and is used by life-stylers and non-lifestylers alike...again, as much or as little as you would like.

At Desire Pearl you will leave refreshed, relaxed, reconnected and looking to reschedule your next trip, which we are already looking at doing. They have really created something unique and special at Desire Pearl. Your privacy is highly valued at Pearl and they do a great job at maintaining it. They even post security by the beach to ward off any beach walkers (gawkers) would try to wander up to take a look.

As special mention goes out to Jared, Victor, Marvilla, Rocky, Kenya, Juan Pablo, Victoria (Concierge), Jess, Javier & the new addition Joy (activities directors) all did an amazing job.

If you are leaning toward or seriously considering a naked vacation, go to Desire Peal. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Quiet end of the pool to be closer to the beach. The Jacuzzi side room can be noisy...it "offi...

Went back to Desire Pearl for our 2nd time June 16-23rd. We had a good time. Service was great. Victor & Jared at the beach/pool are very friendly & outgoing as is Juan at the lobby bar. Loved the pool foam party; what fun! Entertainment staff was great! The only thing I miss is the dinner buffet they used to have at the now Pearl restaurant. Only ate their once during our 7-night stay as neither of us are into into Mediterranean type food. But, the evening we did eat in there, it was good. Very small portions, however good. And yes, you can order as much as you like. Would like to see A/C (or more of it) in the enclosed portions of restaurants. I'd still like to see them consider taking out the pond as it really doesn't serve any purpose and put beds & seating out there. Kinda like the other Desire has. Also, we went again for 7 nights and for us, that's just too long for such a small resort. Next time we'll do 4 or 5 nights. :) And yes, there will be a next time.
PS Love the free wifi but it was pretty shotty.

This was the best vacation we ever had. We were at the Pearl from June 22nd to June 29Th and it was our first experience in this type of resort. The staff is so kind, respectful and just makes you feel so comfortable. It really shows that the resort is not understaffed because everybody seems to really enjoy working there. The second day, most of them knew us by our names which was pretty amazing. The quality of the service is extraordinary.
There are just enough activities during the day, and the animation team is not too pushy, so if you just don’t feel like playing volleyball you just have to say no and enjoy the pool. Every night there is a clothing theme (white, neon, red and black, etc...).
We stayed in room 59 and the ocean view was ok. They make your room twice a day and they even pick up your things. The bed was very comfortable and the room was always very clean and the mini-fridge was always full. You also have a concierge at the pool and at the beach that will prepare you a long chair and bring you the towels.
For dinner, you have 3 possibilities and they are all a la carte menus: Sushi, theme dinner near the pool or the beautiful Pearl restaurant. The food was really good, the presentation is elegant, they have a good selection of wine and the service is amazing. For the men, be sure to bring some shoes in your luggage because sandals are not allowed at this restaurant. For the internet, well, it just didn’t work for us but guess what…we just didn’t care!
We have travelled a lot and we have never felt like going back to the same city and even less to the same resort. Usually after 7 days we just have enough and are ready to go back home. We have found our little piece of paradise and we will be back in December for 10 days. We found our experience to be one chic and elegant with respectful people. We had the honor and pleasure of meeting Des’s group with DJ Hi-Speed that performed for us at the pool and disco. We had so much fun with this group and we met some wonderful people that we can all call friends and we wish that we’ll meet again. For us, this resort is a 6 stars.

Room Tip: Room 59, pool and ocean view, quiet area on third floor.

We cannot say enough about our trip to Desire Pearl. We absolutely loved it! The staff truly makes this resort what it is. We cried when we left as they made us feel like family! The staff will bend over backwards to accommodate you! Such warm and wonderful people!

This was our first time in this type of resort. Having been to Mexico three other times in the past staying only at adult-only resorts in the 4-5 star range, we were a bit nervous. We had been in touch with the resort via e-mail on a number of occasions prior to our visit as I have specific dietary restrictions which needed addressing. The staff could not have been more helpful. It began with Valentina (Director of Guest Services) and Carlos (Executive Chef)-- and was carried through with all restaurant staff-- especially Julio in Aphrodite (XO), as well as David, Rocky, and Miguel! WONDERFUL!!!! Veronica in Concierge- SPECTACULAR!

The environment is sensual and sexy and if you are looking to be close and reconnect with your partner this is the place to be! We are not lifestylers and there is no pressure whatsoever from anyone. We were immediately comfortable. Be nude if you want to; or not if you prefer not to! We met such nice people from all over-- and made friends with people we hope to keep in touch with-- that goes for you Texas and you Oklahoma.

The entertainment staff was OUTSTANDING! Could people be any nicer!?
They go out of their way to get people involved! Yoga, Pool Basketball, Beach and Pool Volleyball, Pole Dance Lessons, Belly Dance Lessons, Theme-Nights, Disco Shows, etc.-- the staff is energetic, lively, and warm! Jessica, Inga, Jovani, Charlie, and Javier were SUPERB!!!! Thank you so muuch for a really fun time! My husband and I really warmed up to the theme nights as the week went on-- when we return in the future, we would definitely participate even more! But again-- if you do not want to dress for theme nights, you do not have to-- it is whatever you are comfortable with! Fully participate-- or sit back, observe and enjoy the sites-- as there are many to see!

The food was outstanding! Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style in Aphrodite by the pool. The assortment is wide and varied-- we could not get enough of the guacamole and salsa-- to die for! As was the coconut ice cream! Omelettes are made to order in the morning-thank you Rosa for the best egg-white omelettes ever! The other nice thing at lunch is the variety of fresh food to be cooked to order on the grill-- hamburgers, hot dogs, chourico, fresh grouper, seafood grill mix (shrimp, mussels, fresh calamari), chicken, stirfry beef and chicken, paella, etc-- it varied from day to day and the cooks grilled it right in front of you to your liking! Amazing variety! Tons of fresh fruit and salad makings, yummy desserts, etc. Phenomenal!

The other choice was the formal restaurant "Pearl"- which we enjoyed for one night only. The staff in Pearl could take lessons from those in Aphrodite in terms of attitude-- they need to warm up to guests! The environment seemed cold-- though the restaurant is elegant and beautiful!

The Sushi Bar is also open every other night, though we did not try it so I cannot comment!

We preferred to eat all meals in Aphrodite-- out by the water in evening moonlight and under the stars. One small caution- the last two nights the mosquitoes seemed to surface-- we brought bug spray-- but they also have it right at the restaurant. if you are getting bitten, the staff will move you inside-- no problem with it! :)

The alcoholic drinks are plentiful and they serve top shelf brands! Try the Don JulioTequila! Smooth! The swim up bar is great-- although we layed out at the quiet-end of the pool and the pool service was excellent! Hats off to Marvilla and Ebe! Also-- the Pool Concierge staff-- Jared and Victor-- are second to none!
We touched base with them every morning- they set up our lounge chairs with towels and other needs and constantly checked in with us to see if they could do anything! Impeccable service! We loved speaking with all of this pool staff and getting to know them!

If I would change anything, it would be the music in the disco. Unfortunately, the DJ chooses to press a button and play the same track of music night after night. And his choice does not match the needs of the crowd! The age of the guests in primarily 40s and up-- we did meet a few thirty-somethings as well His music choice would accommodate a twenty-something or younger crowd--IT NEEDS TO CHANGE! The disco always cleared out early because the music was so bad! He needs to play a variety-- especailly of that from the 70s, 80s, and 90s--people would then dance the night away! Please think about this change-- all of the guests were talking about it!

The other thing is that the gym needs updating! We work out almost every day. The gym is small providing only two treadmills, one eliptical machine, one recumbant bike and one upright bike. There is a small variety of weight machines and free weights. One treadmill is great, the other not so much! This treadmill's incline doesn't even operate. Add a couple of more treadmills and eliptical machines--maybe five total and add a couple of flat benches-- there isn't even one. Make this a priority-- this is important for guests.

OVERALL-- we will be back! We loved the laid back feel of this resort. We stayed for a week-- the resort was at ~50% capacity for the first half and then a lifestyle group checked in to our surprise making the resort at 100% capacity! (Apparently Cabo San Lucas Desire closed and this group was actually booked there originally.) This group of people was not al all intrusive with my husband or with me! We heard and then read here that many guests wer "put off" by this event and some even moved over to Desire RM! If you are friendly and warm with people-- you will get back the same. We had no issue with the group whatsoever! I believe in life that you treat others as you wish to be treated! This group had as much right to be there as we did! Be open-minded! Let others know your limitations and they will respect them!

We will be back-- maybe over the New Year holiday-- definitely by next summer!

Thank you Desire Pearl!
You are the BEST! XOXO

Room Tip: We stayed in a Master Suite- which also had a terrace with its own jacuzzi tub! We were upgraded to...

I think this resort is very good. The only problem I have that made it somewhat of a pain was the internet service . IT SUCKED MAJORLY!!! I got frustrated I nearly left the resort. Appart from that, the service is great, the people are wonderful and I tip my hats off to Chef Carlos!! His kitchen is world class. His food is so delicious and again wonderful customer service. This was our 6th trip to a Desire Resort (all at RM) but our first time at Desire Pearl.

Lets start off with the good:
The resort itself is visually beautiful. The rooms are big and look nice. The pool is also big & beautiful and has a nice pool bar. The jacuzzi is huge and looks awesome. The breakfast & lunch buffets were also big & there was a lot of variety. The staff & service were top notch... which is what we have come to expect at Desire. Unfortunately, that's about all the good we can write about.

Now the bad:
Although the rooms looked nice, there were a few problems. The shower head had a big leak in it & would spray water everywhere. We had to drape a towel over it when showering so the water would stay in the shower area.
The toilet wasn't secured to the floor properly & anytime you sat on it or got up off of it, it would tip & lean to the side. It almost felt as if you were going to fall over & the toilet would pull out of the floor. The toilet also stopped working at one point but maintenance fixed that problem very quickly but still didn't secure the toilet to the floor properly.
There isn't nearly enough lighting in the bathroom area & my wife found it difficult to get her makeup & hair ready for the night.
There were some renovations going on in our building so being woken up at 7am with hammering kind of sucked after going to bed at 3-4am.
The rooms are all "oceanview" but you can't see beyond the pool or trees in a lot of them on the first & second floors. The three rooms we were actually in had ZERO view of the ocean,
The "nice" restaurant called Pearl was below average. The food wasn't very good, the portions small & they are trying too hard to be "fine dining". We ate there once & never went back.
The entertainment staff was a bit boring & didn't have the same energy level as the staff at RM.
The disco was ok although a little small. The playroom was also a bit small so it didn't see much action. Not everyone wants to be right on top of another couple. The DJ needs to mix up the music a bit instead of playing the same exact songs every night.

And the ugly:
Due to Desire Los Cabos being sold, Desire Pearl made the decision to host a takeover group who were supposed to be at Cabos. This was a group who do not meet the requirements of a Desire resort (unless it was a true takeover). This group was full of single men & single women. We choose Desire because it's COUPLES ONLY! If we wanted single people, we'd go to Hedo.
The management didn't even consider how this group would affect the resort & all of the other COUPLES staying there. The moment this takeover group arrived at Pearl, Desire was no longer Desire... It was Hedo Cancun. After 5 previous trips to Desire, this was the first time either of us ever felt uncomfortable. My wife was approached on a few occasions by some of these single men and rude & crude propositions were directed at her (during & after dinner). This has NEVER happened at Desire to us before but this was also the first time we had singles there.
We now felt like we were banished to our room. There was no way my wife was going to go to the disco or jacuzzi and I sure as heck wouldn't want to bring her there.
I can appreciate Desire trying to accommodate this group who was supposed to be at Cabo, but hosting them at Pearl while the resort was still 60% or so occupied was about as bad of a decision as they could have made. Why they didn't send them to Temptations where single guys & girls are allowed is beyond me.
After wasting two days & nights of our vacation, we requested to be moved to RM. The staff understood our concerns & the next day we were at RM. We were only able to get a basic gardenview room but at that point, we didn't care. We know of 5 other couples who switched to RM and I am positive there were more. We are beyond disappointed we had two of our days & nights ruined by Desire Pearls poor decisions, we are disappointed we spent more money to go to Pearl & ended up at RM in the cheapest room there (although remodeled & nice)
We are disappointed we still had to pay a cab $15 to take us out of Pearl & to RM.
I will say that we have already been offered a free night at Pearl on our next vacation but it is doubtful we would ever go back there. We will be at RM in 2014.

An unbiased review:
We brought friends of ours to Pearl. It was their first time at a Desire or a clothing optional resort. Since they didn't have anything to compare it two, their comments warrant a post here.
They said they really liked Pearl. The rooms were beautiful & the general look of the resort was impressive. The pool was outstanding, the staff great and the food was good.

If you want a Desire that is bigger, has a bigger pool, a bigger jacuzzi, bigger rooms and is a more mellow, relaxing, not much of a nightlife place, Pearl is your place.
If you have been to RM & can live without the party atmosphere at night, good vibe all day, lobby bar, 2am pizza & a fun jacuzzi... Pearl is your place.
If you are a first timer looking to ease your way into a resort like this, Pearl is a good start.
If you love RM.... stick with RM. We had more fun in the one day/night at RM than we had all week at Pearl.

Room Tip: Request rooms away from the jacuzzi if you are in bed early.

Overall we enjoyed our stay however, there are some major problems there starting with check in. There is no AC in the entire area including the bar dance area and no ventilation with temperatures very high. The upscale restaurant needs to shut down and start over with a new chef and varied menus. There are only two menus and they rotate every two days. The informal restaurant food is much better Our room was nice however AC did not work as well as the safe both were repaired in 2 hours. Pool area is very nice as is hot tub starting at 5 and lasting most of the night, they need more beds than 6.Theme nights were generally good however some were really bad. Need a bigger playroom behind Disco.
Rooms are nice although very overpriced and if you want a steak they hit you for $ 25.
