“Now Sapphire is awesome-- can't wait to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Some friends and I made the trip to Now Sapphire for a close friend's wedding. From the time that we arrived throughout the trip, we had an incredible experience! Not only was the place beautiful and extremely clean, all of the staff member were super friendly and accomodating.

Swimming:
The pool was AMAZING and the beach was great as well. The sand on the beach is probably the most beautiful I've ever seen-- super white and soft. We never had trouble finding a chair on the beach, but to get one at the pool required you to be at there by around 8AM (which is not our thing)-- they tended to get snatched up pretty quickly. This worked out fine for us as we preferred the lounge chairs inside the pool which always seemed to be available. Throughout the day someone would come by and offer drinks/clean up old stuff and there was also a swim up bar. The bartenders were awesome and you never had to wait very long.

Rooms:
When we arrived we were told that the ocean front room we reserved would not be ready until the next day so they would be putting us in another room until then. I was disappointed for about 2 seconds until we saw the replacement room which was incredible! We were even more surprised that the ocean front room was even more amazing-- it included a kind sized bed with a canopy, the most beautiful view, and a jaccuzzi on the patio! The housekeeping team was really sweet-- we left them a tip the first day and they continued to give us extra water throughout the stay (which we had requested). They cleaned the room really really nicely-- even after we got sand all over the floor.

Food:

There are several restaurants to choose from at the resort. Each day we would receive a "newsletter" to our room which would indicate which of those restaurants would be closed the following day (just one of these was closed daily). We would generally plan in the morning where to go that night but none of the restaurants required reservations. We really enjoyed each of the meals that we had during our visit! We would always do brunch at the Market Cafe for breakfast, then usually either skip lunch or do the buffet again. We found that the buffet had a lot of a different things to offer and we were always able to find something that we liked. The other restaurants were also quite good-- we particularly enjoyed Paramour (french), Cibu (Mediterranean) and Fresco (mexican). Carlos at Cibu was hilarious and even helped us learn a little bit of Spanish.

Overall:
We had an amazing time and didn't really run into any problems at all. We've never been to an inclusive resort before but we'd certainly make it more of a regular thing if they are all like Now Sapphire! My only wish would be that the resort would serve Martini's at dinner. I was dying for one by the end of the trip!!

Room Tip: Buildings 1-6 were right on the water and the other buildings in the "jungle view" rooms s...

This was a repeat visit to Now Sapphire and I highly recommend it to both couples and families. I'll review the good and the bad.

The GOOD:
* They took away the reservations policy that a lot of resorts do, which was so nice to not have to make reservations for every night when we first got there. They are all first come and first serve and we actually only had to wait one time for about 30 minutes.
* Service at dinner is great at all the restaurants, especially the French rest.
* Room was always checked on twice and restocked and cleaned really well.
* Pool is amazing and really big so it doesn't feel like your crammed with everyone.
* A stellar review for the Entertainment Team and a huge shout out to their fearless leader, Freddy!! I have been to several resorts and this is the BEST entertainment team around. They run a tight ship with a on-time schedule full of a variety of things, such as Pilates, Boot Camp, volleyball, Archery, Bike Tours (which was my favorite), and more. The entertainment staff super professional and they love getting to know you. I would return just for this reason.
* If you have kids, they also offer jam-packed days of kids' activities via the Explorers Club.
* Drinks not watered down and they have a fun drink of the day each day.

The BAD:
* Jellyfish were running rampant while we were there so you were highly discouraged from getting into the ocean.
* They have a policy that people can't save beach chairs, but it is not enforced. If you don't get up at 6am to go save some chairs at the pool, then you won't have any for the day.

HIGHLY recommend especially for the price!!

Room Tip: Even if you don't get a beach view, the different buildings (we had a garden view) are really cl...

Don't know where to start but staying here was wonderful. You read reviews talking about rooms being dirty, service being bad, food bad. Let me just say I experienced the complete opposite. Everything was great. Let me start by saying that Ivan who reserves the bali beds and palapas and works with perferred club members was the most gracious , polite , hard working person I have met. Anytime we needed anything he was there and our request was quickly taken care. Always smiling even though he ran around all day with weather being in high 90's and humidity off the charts. From the pool waiters to our servers to
housekeeping. Highly highly
recommend . The only thing I would say that was a bit discouraging . Is that it was i the outskirts of playa. A $90 taxi cab ride to playa other than that perfection. As Ivan would say " it is my pleasure" to have experienced such a great vacation spot. See you soon. Cannot wait to be back.

My husband and I got married at the Now Sapphire in the beginning of May 2013. We had 25 guest ranging from ages 4 to 65. EVERYONE had a blast! The wedding itself was PERFECTTT, and are over all stay was fantastic. I initial was worried about staying here for are whole honeymoon, as the resort is kids friendly, but nothing was chaotic in that sense. I would defiantly upgrade to be a preferred club member. We stayed in the preferred club ocean suite, and it was gorgeous!! All the ocean view rooms are steps away from the beach, which is really nice, not all resorts have that kind of feel. As a preferred member you get access to a private adults only pool, a private lounge with computers and a mini bar with top shelf products and access to a private breakfast buffet( which was great, because the other breakfast buffet was always so packed) The dinner buffet was okay, but the restaurants were great. Are favorite restaurants were The Blue Water Grill for lunch and the Cibu for dinner. The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating-- most importantly the resort was CLEAN. The staff cleaned the pool and beach at leased twice a day, and the rooms were always done very nicely. The spa was wonderful too, defiantly would suggest the Couples massage. The pool bar was always packed, but the beach bar was really fun and servers came out to you on the beach. I would absolutely recommend the Now Sapphire to anyone, and my husband and I WILL be going back for our anniversary next May :)

The Now Sapphire is a beautiful resort with pleasant, helpful staff. They greet you when they see you and are extremely willing to help in any way. The entertainment staff is phenomenal. They offer many activities for children and adults and make it look so fun, you feel you have to join in. Here is an example; Geovanni Manuel is a member of the entertainment team that made our stay even more enjoyable. He lead beach soccer every day and once he discovered our son's passion for soccer, they formed a bond. Geovanni would seek our son out everyday to ensure he was enjoying himself. On our last day, Geovanni gave our son one of his professional training jerseys and signed it for him. This was Geovanni's personal possession and he was in no way obligated as part of his employment to give this away. This is how much Geovanni and the entertainment crew love their jobs and keeping the guests happy. Geovanni made our trip 100% better because of his loving, caring, giving, and fun personality.

This was my second trip to NOW Sapphire, having come to check the place out last year when my husband and I decided to do a destination wedding. We were very pleased then and couldn't have been more pleased this second trip.

We choose NOW Sapphire because it can hold a large crowd, is family friend and is convenient to the airport. Here are some specific pros/cons:

Kids. We had quite a few young nieces, nephews and cousins attending. Everyone loved the Explorer's Club - I was actually surprised at how many of the kids were totally thrilled to be dropped off while their parents came and drank cocktails with us poolside. This made it relaxing for everyone!

Activities. Yoga, zumba, aerobics, sailing, karoake, live musics, etc. Tons to do! I went a little overboard the first few days and ended up kicking back and relaxing on the Bali beds for the rest of the time, but I loved seeing our guests in the various classes and at one point we had 60+ people on stage for karoake! And almost everyone used the gym.

Food. Largely excellent. Best I've had at an all-inclusive. Paramour and Cibu were best. The coffee shop is awesome.

Rooms. Large, clean, fine. Beds were very comfortable.

Wedding. I can't say enough wonderful things about how they handled our wedding. It was a big wedding and yet the food was delicious, everything happened on time, the waitstaff was super engaged and friendly. We loved our wedding here. I have a whole separate review on bestdetinationweddings and recommend you message me directly with questions.

Cons - we really hated the sells pitch at the beginning. We had warned our guests to pay attention and try to avoid it, but the tactics were even sneakier this time. Does this sales pitch ever even work?! Also, the resort needs more water around. I would happily have drank from a pitcher of filtered water sitting on top of the bar with cups for self-service. However, you had to wait for the bars to open to get bottled water.

The final con was on the service. Last year the service was 100% and was the main reason why we chose NOW. We loved the people. I would say service had declined by at least 25% this time. It was fine at the pools and during dinner. However, the buffet in the morning was a disaster, waiting 25 minutes for coffee or getting a tea bag but no hot water, etc. One night, the bartender at the main bar took his time serving us and then said, "If you want drinks, you know what tips are?" We were furious but gave him a big tip just to not deal with it the rest of the night.

But overall, we love the place and we heard time and time again from our guests that they will return. Everyone with kids wants to bring their families back for vacation and one recently engaged couple said they will return for their honeymoon! Can't beat that!

Room Tip: Go Preferred beach front! Love the jacuzzi on the patio!

The Jade Sapphire was not the best or the worst. The food was ok but not anything to write home about. There were no reservations required and no long waits to be seated so that was nice. The resort was full but the property accomodated very well and it never felt crowded. The staff was very helpful and friendly except for the staff at the swim up bar. If you didn't place money on the bar for a tip prior to ordering a drink they would ignore you. One time I brought a $50 bill in hopes of giving it to a bartender if he were to serve people in first come first serve order but I wasn't able to hand it out as once again I was served very last. Otherwise the staff was great. Check in was pretty slow compared to other resorts I've stayed. Room service was very responsive though and it wasn't difficult to procure extra bottled waters (this had been difficult on several of my other trips to mexico). There was enough activities without them being in your face. I thought the nightly entertainment was surprisingly good. Also although there was lots of evening activity the room was sound proofed really well so that it didn't distrub sleep. The beach was beautiful but it wasn't swept much so there was an abundance of seaweed washed up. The ocean had jellyfish warnings the entire time we were there and I witnessed several people getting stung but that is out of the resort's control of course. The pool was fantastic but could have been maintained a little better. My 2 year old gashed her toe on a broken piece of tile and there was trash and bird poop in the pool one morning that I had noticed the previous afternoon.
