“Best Honeymoon of All Time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2009

Thank you so much to the great management and staff of this incredible and beautiful resort! My wife and I could not have asked for a better honeymoon location. The food was incredible and delicious at every restaurant, the staff was so friendly, helpful, and nice, and our room...wow! What a place to live for 10 days! I want to go back right away and live there forever! If you go, be sure to snorkel off the puerto morelos reef, you WON'T be disappointed!

The resort just opened in October. It was rebuilt after a hurricane. The rooms are lovely. Linens were a bit scratchy. Forget the upgrade to the plunge pool rooms. We were told that they were cold - rarely in the sun and we never saw a single person use theirs. The food is good with a wide selection to choose from but service often slow and places did not open on time. The inifinity pool and swim up bar absolutely perfect!

They had overbooked the resort when we were there - apparently the owner brought in his extended family to celebrate the opening (over 200 people) and our room was given away. After words - the concierge took great care of us with spa treatments that seemed to balance things out quite nicely. The spa was fabulous!

Overall, it was a great stay and I would go again!

This was our first time at a Dreams all-inclusive and it was a great experience. I had expected lower quality and service based on the price since we are more use to Hawaii and paying big bucks. We were very impressed with the quality of the resort, rooms, staff and food. The staff made us feel special and took great care of us. Dreams is a super value, a lot of bang for the buck. It is now on our short list for a great get-away experience. WOW

We travelled to Dreams with 2 other couples from Nov.9-16th. I have to say that we were somewhat concerned about the resort being so new and perhaps the "bugs" were not all worked out yet. There was no need to worry. The staff was very genuine and attentive to the guests needs.

The rooms were beautiful and well taken care of by the housekeeping staff. There was a bottle of champayne and a fruit tray waiting for us when we checked in.

Each restaurant had great choices....everything was delicious. It is so nice when you don't need a reservation for dinner...you may have to sit and have a cocktail before a table is ready, but you are on vacation.

The beach had a lot of seaweed on our first day (due to the hurricane passing by). After the 1st day, the sea had settled down and there was not as much. They put up about 8 new palapas while we were there. It was not hard to find a seat on the beach or the pool for the most part.

My husband booked a sunset cruise for us through our Apple Rep. It was very romantic and we were served steak and lobster ($120.00). It was well worth it.

One down side........On Saturday and Sunday, the was a big event happening. The bar staff warned us on Friday that 450 friends and family of the manager would be attending a special gathering. Many of these families had 2 or 3 children with them. The hotel went from calm and quiet to crazy busy. The children took over the infinity pool and blocked one entrance with the floats.....and they were sitting at about half of the bar stools at the swim up bar. The parents were not bothered by the behaviour of the children, and nobody from the hotel seemed to be monitoring anything. The restaurant at the pool actually ran out of 3 appetizers early on Sunday afternoon. I just don't think that the management was prepared for this kind of crowd.

Other than that small blip in the week, we truly loved this resort.

Family vacation 11/8-11/15. Traveled with our two daughters, ages 10 and 16.
Dreams Riviera Cancun is an amazing resort with a truely wonderful staff.
We booked a garden view room and were upgraded to Preferred Club ocean view room with a jacuzzi on our balcony at check in. The view from the balcony was incredible.
Our room was a nice size for our family. Kids appreciated the ipod docking/charging station. Our only issue with our room (and this was really a very minor thing),, was that the shower door was frosted glass with a clear glass border. Our teenage daughter was not comfortable at all showering when the rest of the family was in the room. Again,,very minor and easily solved by ensuring she had the room to herself when needed. Housekeeping kept our room perfect! No concerns at all with leaving all of our electronics (phones, camaras, ipods & laptop) in our room. Nightly turn down service was lovely. Kids looked forward to the daily activities sheet (Sundial) each night so that they could plan the next day.
Activities.. Explorers Club for our 10 year old was excellent. The staff at the Explorers Club was wonderful with our daughter and she truely enjoyed her time there. We signed her in every morning as a "Come and Go" so she was free to attend for the activites that she had picked from the Sundial activities Sheet and then return to us at the pool when she was done.
The resort Activities Staff was also excellent. Funny and friendly. My husband, and 16 year old daughter participated in many activities with them from beach and pool vollyball, to beach soccer, archery, rifle shooting and batting cages.
One of the highlights of the trip for our 10 year old were her Scuba lessons with Jerry.
I can't say enough how much she enjoyed this, and Jerry is excellent with children. You can find him at the Aquaworld center. Ask about the "bubblemakers" class. This is a must do!!
3 pools at the resort were all perfect. The infinity pool with the swim up bar is now my favorite resort pool out of all of the 10 different Caribbean/Mexico resorts that I have visited. All 3 pools were well used during our stay. Activity pool was busy with water basketball and vollyball, and the shallow kiddie pool was a hot spot for all of the very little resort guests. We had no problem getting 4 chairs by the pool everyday, but we were up and out early, around 7am.
The beach is very nice. Staff works very had to keep and clean and free of seaweed and they do a great job at it. Ocean trampoline and Iceberg climbing wall were so much fun, as were the kayaks.
Bars... many choices of bars and all were well stocked. Bartenders are all friendly and fast. They were all very good at making creative non-alcholic drinks for our kids.
Restaurants... The Waiters at each and Every restaurant were Excellent. Madguiel at World Cafe, Alejandro at Himitsu and Mayo at Bordeaux,,wow!! We were truely impressed by your customer service!!!! The food was delicious and there are plenty of choices at each restaurant for children. We dined at every location and loved them all. Absolutely no issues related to food & water.
We did not attend any of the evening shows or dance parties (too tired from playing all day), but they all sounded great. Something different every night.
We booked one off property trip with Aquaworld to swim with the dolphins. Highly recommend using Aquaworld. Loved the swim with the Dolphins trip to Wet and Wild. Tons of fun. Good value and well organized.
Overall impression of Dreams Riviera Cancun,,,fantastic! A perfect family vacation. Take a walk on the beach, and you'll past several other resorts. When you walk back and return to Dreams,,you'll look at your resort and realize that you've chosen the most beautiful one!!

This trip was very important to us since it was our wedding/honeymoon/yearly vacation all in one and Dreams Riviera Cancun was was the perfect place to have it. We stayed there from October 31st thru November 7th, 2009 and everything was wonderful! We had the free upgrade to an ocean view room and the view from the 5th floor was so awesome! We thought that we were going to purchase an upgade to a preferred club ocean front room since this was our honeymoon as well and we found no need to do that as the rooms were elegant, comfortable, cozy and very modern. I have NEVER stayed at a resort where the staff was so caring and attentive to anything you needed... their service is TOP NOTCH!

We got married on the beach and it was a dream come true! Ana, the wedding coordinator is such a pleasure to work with. We had four family members attend our wedding and they had such a great time. We had our wedding dinner at Portofino, the Italian Restaurant and stayed in the private wine room which connects with Bordeaux. It was beautiful and the food was delicious!

I highly recommend this resort to any and everyone. You won't be dissapointed!

We just returned from 9 days at Dreams Riviera Cancun. The place is beautiful and the food is delicious! We arrived on Saturday catching the tail end of the hurricane but it gave us time to relax for a couple days. From Monday on we had pure sun. The beach was stirred up from the hurricane but throughout the week it got better and better. The beach is gorgeous and offers powdery white sand. The staff works hard to clean the beach every morning. I've posted some beach pics. Plenty of palapas but you had to get up early to grab one. We had a great room- (Room 2536) Building 2, 5th floor (top floor) Ocean View which was a straight ocean view as opposed to a side view. We really lucked out. This room was a bit bigger than the room our friends had- they had an ocean view room as well but on the 2nd floor on the side. Our tub was big enough for two whereas theirs was a standard tub. We had no issues with our room. We loved the layout and everything about it. It was like ocean front but we had a view of the court yard as well. The balconies for these rooms offer no privacy/dividers from your neighbor. The balcony was great for early mornings and late afternoons watching the sunset over the resort and a nice escape from the beach.

Food was awesome! Best calamari we ever had! So tender and a delicious batter. The beach staff will bring you cocktails and food to your beach chair. One day we had calamari and shrimp cocktail for a snack. The beach staff is very attentive. Always around. I've paid for this service at other 5 star resorts in Jamaica and did not receive it. This place is on top of things and always there to serve. They are very friendly and appreciative. Some staff speak better English than others which can be a little frustrating when trying to order drinks. They had all top shelf liquors and the house wine is from Chile. We preferred the cab/merlot mix but the sauvignon blancs are nice too. Tons of house wines to choose from which was nice as opposed to other resorts I've been to where it's only been one house wine for each type. I can't say I have a favorite dining experience as far as service goes. They were all wonderful. Bordeaux was our favorite for dinner and Oceana and the buffet were our favorites for lunch. The second day we ate at the buffet because it was rainy and they had grilled shrimp, sea bass and salmon on skewers. DELICIOUS! The buffet is the best one we've been to for a resort or cruise. Mexican, Asian, seafood, pasta, salad, fruit, you name it it's there. Breafast buffet was amazing too. We actually ate Mexican everyday for breakfast. Breakfast of champions right? Ha, ha! The tostadas were to die for. Everything was very fresh. They also had a crepe station which was nice and my friends LOVED the granola (they ate it with strawberries and pretty much moaned). I'm not sure if it was homemade granola but they couldn't get enough of it once they had that first bite.

We were there this past weekend when it was at 100% capacity due to a special event. They were very accomodating given the amount of people at the resort. They offered the regular breakfast buffet as well at one at the Seaside/Oceana which was nice.

We walked to Puerto Morelos which took a half hour and we were moving at a good clip. We took the Colectivo from there to the hwy and jumped on the ADO bus to Playa Del Carmen. This was a safe, economical and comfortable alternative to the taxi's. We took a taxi back from the ADO station to the resort. Roundtrip it cost us $16 as opposed to $70 round trip in a taxi. If I had to do it over again I would just take the taxi from the resort to the ADO station and not walk to Puerto Morelos town since there is no bus station there. It is on the highway near the 711 and gas station. The ADO station in Playa Del Carmen is located right on 5th ave and buses leave about every 15 min from their locations. Once off the bus in Puerto Morelos there are taxis waiting along the side street.

Overall I would give this resort high marks. The service, food and accomodations were all top notch. There were some minor kinks but you get that at any resort/hotel. We walked to a couple other resorts in the area and checked them out and all agreed we preferred our resort. It's just the right size, ocean front from the pool, beautiful beach, beautiful architecture, furnishings and surroundings. Bugs were an issue but I did see them spraying so they seem to be working on this. Bring bug spray and you will be all set.
Enjoy your trip!
