This was our 4th time at this resort. Still had a great time. Traveled with my wife and 2 kids and we were there for 7 nights.
Transportation: This is not associated with the hotel but I wanted to mention it. We have used Cancun Shuttle 4 times now and it is great. Private car from the airport and back runs about $90 US for 4 people. That is the best deal that I have found by far. Some places want that amount per person.
Check In: Very nice. They have added a cool towel to the check in protocol as a welcome to the resort which is very nice. We were checked in and had our room in less than 15 minutes. Really appreciated the fact that our room was ready even though it was just after 3 PM.
Pools: The pools are great here. Infinity pool and activities pool were warm and not that crowded this week. We were always able to find a spot to put our stuff down. However, it is hard to find sometimes after 10 AM. We got lucky a few times with people getting up and moving when we were looking.
Bars: Swim up bar was good as usual. Daniel makes a killer mudslide which is the favorite of my wife and daughter (though her's is non-alcoholic). Wait times to get a drink were no more than 10 minutes which was nice. The barracuda bar on the beach with the swings was also a great place. It seems a little cooler there and the bartenders were great. Try the Mexican Hurricane.
Entertainment: The entertainment during the day was fantastic. Water or beach volleyball everyday. IVO was a great entertainment host. Even dealt Texas Hold em during the week. I played and was first out but it was still fun. During the evening they had a great fire and drums show, break dance show, and a magic show. The magic show was a little hookie but his card and coin tricks were amazing. There are lots to do such as wind surfing, kayaks, batting practice, riffle shooting, beach soccer, and evening movies at the pool.
Restaurants: The food has been and still is great. World Cafe is great for breakfast. Lunch we either had room service, had the oceana, or burgers and pizza at the pool. Definitely try the piaye (sp?). It is great! For dinner, our favorite was the sea side grill. They have amazing steaks and the chocolate souffle is the best desert at the resort! It is also one of the casual restaurants. Oceana is also casual and has seafood. The salmon is my favorite there. We also ate at Portofinos which is Italian. Very very good as well. The only let down of the whole trip was at the Asian place - Himatsu. We got the hibachi dinner as it was horrible. Definitely no worth waiting 30 minutes to get a reservation. They only have the hibachi for 3 seatings at 16 people per seating. may have been a off night but we have eaten there before it liked it so much more in previous years. One note about the wait times: The restaurants are not that large so timing can be difficult. Peak times can lead to some waiting. Most we waited was 15 minutes. Larger parties may want to split up to get in quicker. Service was excellent but tended to be a little slow at Portofinos.
Rooms: Rooms were comfortable as usual. One word of advice: turn down the ac when you get there and leave it on. Also run the fan as much as possible. It was cool but never too cold!
Check out: Check out was even faster this time due to using a electronic tablet. Great idea!
Overall this was a great trip and Dreams does a great job. I rated it a 4 versus a 5 due to the hibachi restaurant. The place is out of this world in terms of service, entertainment and value. The place is always really clean and you can do as little as you want while staying there. This was our forth time there and we will be back for sure. One surprise for us this time was that they actually fixed the extremely bumpy road from the highway to the resort. Anyone who has been on that road knows what I am talking about!
